wolf who finds their mate goes through
the same experience.”
    “ Yeah, you were an
asshole. I hate to admit it, but I liked it,” Remy added after a
few moments. He turned to look at Hank, who now wore a shit-eating
grin across his face.
    “ So, you’ll
stay?”
Remy shook his head. “I didn’t say
that. I have a life in the valley. I can’t just fall off the face
of the earth. I have responsibilities I can’t just walk away from.
My friends and family will worry. I have to go back. At least, for
now.”
    Hank’s shoulders fell. He
looked down at his feet and pushed a stone around in the sandy
gravel with his toe. After a few moments of quiet contemplation, he
finally spoke. “Fine. I’ll have Paul drive us back to your place.
But know I’m not happy about this and you are still mine .”
The last word was said with a deep
growl. The sound sent a tremor down Remy’s spine and heated his
blood.
“ Before we take you back,
I have a spot I want to show you. Follow me,” Hank said.
Remy followed the hard body of his
werewolf deeper into the woods, along a narrow, winding trail.
Sunlight filtered through the deep canopy of trees, the cool air
rushing around them. Down in the valley, it was warm and summer was
nearly upon them. Up here in the mountains, it was still cooler and
spring was just arriving. Everything around them smelled cleaner,
fresher. The verdant greens of the forest surrounding them gave way
here and there to rocks and pebbles as outcroppings along the
mountain gave way to its stony face. Here and there as Remy looked
up through the canopy of trees, he would see the peak above them,
still covered in a thick blanket of snow.
He heard the rush of water as they
came closer to a clearing, and Remy nearly stopped in his tracks as
a waterfall came into view. It was beautiful, the roaring waters
gliding over smooth stones, worn from time and the ferocity of the
thawing mountain snows. A creek branched out from the large pond
the water collected in and headed back in the direction the cabins
had been in.
“ Ready to jump in?” Hank
asked with a laugh.
Remy shivered. “Are you insane? It’s
barely sixty degrees in the sun.”
Hank smiled wide. “Maybe later this
summer then. But this isn’t what I wanted to show you. We’re almost
there.”
Remy followed Hank closer to the rock
face and after climbing a bit, they came to a cave entrance. Hank
dipped inside the darkened space. Remy stood there a moment, trying
to determine where he was heading in the failing light. A torch
blazed up and as Remy stepped closer, he could see Hank
illuminating the way.
    “ Is it safe in
there?”
    Hank chuckled. “For the most
part.”
Remy climbed inside and followed Hank
once the werewolf turned to lead the path. After a few minutes of
twisting and turning, they came to an open cavern. Hank lit another
torch on the wall, and then proceeded to light three more before
jamming his torch into a pocket in the last wall. Inside the space,
in the middle, was a small pool of water that was
steaming.
    “ A hot spring?” Remy
asked.
Hank began pulling his shirt over his
head. “Yeah, a hot spring. Take your clothes off. Jump
in.”
Remy watched his werewolf disrobe for
a few seconds, enjoying the view too much to lose focus. Hank was
nearly naked by the time Remy got started and got an angry growl in
response. As Remy finished up, Hank turned and showed Remy his
perfect ass as he sinfully sauntered to the pool and stepped down
into it. Remy tossed the last of his clothes in the pile and
followed Hank into the water.
    Warm water enveloped his leg,
eliciting a moan from him. Hank turned to look at Remy, his eyes
flashing yellow.
    “ Be careful,
human.”
The warm water, or the naked
perfection of his wolf, was enough to make him a bit more forward.
“Or what?”
Hank was on top of him before he could
think, the large male pressing him against the edge of the stone
rim. “Or I’ll take what’s mine once more
