Rescue Party
more than being friends with Steven and Dean, which was true. Moira hadn’t said anything, so Kacy assumed her friend hadn’t seen the kiss with Clay that day in the gym.
“But how well do you know them? Sure we all went to high school together, but Clay was a player. The other two are a cute couple. It’s not weird?” Pam asked.
The conversation stopped when the waitress came up and took their order. Kacy took a sip of water and shook her head.
“It’s not weird. Clay grew up a lot while he was away. The Army Reserve and college did wonders. Besides, we’re all around thirty now. It’s not a bunch of horny teenagers in a house running around naked. Clay is working at the factory with their upgraded computer system. We’ve all got jobs to go to.”
“Steve will have to start the pre-term school meetings soon. Football tryouts were delayed. He was a big help with the rescue teams,” Moira admitted.
“They all were. They rescued me from a mess,” Kacy said.
“I saw Clay kiss you, Kacy. Don’t get wrapped up with that crazy.” Moira wagged a finger at Kacy.
“They’re not crazy. They’re great guys.” Kacy kept her voice low and tried to ignore the defensive urges bubbling up inside of her.
“They? I thought the other two were gay? Clay might be worth playing with?” Pam asked.
Their food arrived, and Kacy tapped her foot under the table as she waited to respond.
Moira got there first. “They’re bi and kinky.” She bit into a fry.
“Kinky?” Kacy shook her head. “How do you know they’re bisexual?”
“I heard from a friend and reliable source they do the sex parties.” Moira worked on her sandwich.
“The sex parties?” Pam asked. “Clay, too? Because he is hot. They all are, but he’s a fantasy, bad-boy hot.”
“They’re all fine looking. The point is they swing both ways and in a somewhat public setting. Have you been to one of those kinky parties, Kacy?” Moira asked.
“No. How do you know they go to them?” Kacy’s appetite left her. Anyone in town under fifty knew about the parties. She’d never been invited, but it’d made it in to her fantasy routine. “Is this a joke?”
“No joke. Clara goes to them. She got tired of being single and lonely. She hooked up with that trio you’re living with once. It couldn’t have been too long ago. I can’t believe they didn’t tell you about it.” Moira sipped her sweet tea.
Kacy was torn between anger and shock. Anger because her friend loved to have the dish over her. Shock because Moira wouldn’t pull this if she wasn’t sure it was true. Clara was Moira’s sister. She wouldn’t lie about that sort of thing. Moira was blunt and opinionated but meant well deep down. “You’re still single, why you don’t go?” Pam asked Moira. “I’d go if I had an invite.”
“My sister is going. I don’t need to see her getting busy with a bunch of random guys. Her freak is her thing.” Moira shook her head and tapped Kacy’s arm. “I’m sorry for the bomb, but you always want the truth. So are you signed up to go to the next party?”
“No, I didn’t even know they went. That’s crazy. They could get any woman in town they wanted in private.” Kacy didn’t doubt her friends. They weren’t the type to make things up even if they didn’t approve. She still had to hear it from her guys. She was pissed off they’d kept it from her, and she didn’t even have the details yet.
“Well, Clara hasn't been to any parties since the flood. I guess they’ve been postponed until things are normal again. So it’s not as if the men have been cheating on you. But you might want to check what you’re playing with, my friend.” Moira dug into her food.
“You saw the kiss, and you waited until now to tell me?” Kacy tried to eat because there was nothing else to do at the moment. She had to process it before she could face her men full force.
“I thought maybe you were just playing with Clay. Getting your wild
