clenched her fist, and tried to strike him. Davis blocked her punch and responded with one of his own. The punch hit her square in the eye, knocking her off her feet, stunning her.
“I’m sorry,” Davis said, standing over her. “I never meant to hurt you.”
Davis briefly looked at Turner, then took off running down the hallway. Turner wasn’t sure what was happening but looked like he was in shock, standing there almost frozen. After a few moments he knelt down to Parker’s side to make sure she was all right. He helped her to her feet and she grabbed her gun, putting it back in her belt.
“Would you mind explaining what’s going on here?” Turner asked. “Cause I’m about to start freaking out.”
“I’ll explain in the car. Let’s go,” she told him.
Turner followed her as Parker started running after Davis. She was only a minute behind him but it was plenty enough time for Davis to slip away. They ran out the front doors and looked around but there was no sign of him. They started walking toward Turner’s car, and Parker called Cole to see how he was faring.
“How are you making out?” Parker asked.
“Ahh, the guy slipped me. Got into a car that was waiting for him. Couldn’t make out the plate. How’d it go on your end?”
“Well, I found Davis. He was here.”
    “Great.”
    “But he got away.”
    “Fabulous.”
“And blew my cover with Ryan in the process,” she said.
“Wow. This night can’t get any better.”
“We’re going home. I’ll meet you there.”
    “Roger that.”
Once they got to Turner’s car and started driving back home, neither Parker or Turner were eager to start the conversation about what just happened. There was an uncomfortable silence that filled the car for several minutes, neither wanting to be the first to start talking. Parker didn’t really want to admit to anything and Turner didn’t want to hear that his world had been flipped upside down again.
“So…,” Turner finally said, not knowing what else to say.
“I really hope you’re not as involved in this as you appear to be.”
“In what?” he asked, slowing down.
    “Just drive,” Parker said.
“So you’re actually a CIA agent?”
    “Yes.”
“So you’ve been lying to me this whole time. Why?”
“I haven’t lied about everything. Just who I work for and it was to try and find out who you are and what you know,” she told him.
    “I’m me and I don’t know anything. I don’t even know what’s going on.”
“You obviously were working with Heath. You just performed a drop for him, have a second cell phone for contact, how do you not know?”
“Listen, I haven’t even talked to the guy since college.”
They arrived at the apartment complex a few minutes later and Parker told Turner to follow her as they walked to the porch of Turner’s place. Cole was already standing there waiting for them. Turner was a little surprised when he saw him, recognizing him as his other new neighbor.
“Aren’t you my other neighbor?” Turner asked.
“This is Jim Cole. He’s also a CIA agent,” Parker told him.
“Is there anyone around here who isn’t in the CIA?”
They went into Cole’s apartment and directed Turner to sit down on the couch as they began questioning him.
“So start from the top,” she said. “Everything about you and Heath.”
“He emailed me last week saying we’ll talk soon. Then all of a sudden I get sent a flash drive at work with all these documents on it and he calls me and says lets meet for lunch. He asks for my help and says he’s on an undercover mission and can’t trust anyone else and if I’ll help him.”
“So you said yes,” Cole said.
“He was an old college buddy. He said he’s setting up these meets and selling the information on the drive to find out who in the CIA has gone rogue. If I helped him he’d give me a little money. That’s it.”
“He’s the one who went rogue, moron. Do you really think the CIA would just
