she was confused.
“What day was that, Ant?”
“I don’t know, Sis. It wasn’t that long ago. Right before your motor blew in your car. As a matter of fact, I didn’t tell you because Sheila said that you knew she was stopping by to pick up something.”
“Oh yeah, now I think I remember. Have you seen Gwen?”
“No, I haven’t seen her all day. She’s probably around the corner in the projects getting high, who knows.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Go have yourself some fun and tell Sam I said hey.”
She let up her window and watched Anton get in the car with Samantha. He leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. How sweet, Scarlett thought. She felt that all Anton needed was a little guidance and he’d be all right. She smiled, but her thoughts went back to Sheila coming over. She didn’t want to say anything around Anton, but she could never remember a time Sheila needed something from her, and it was even stranger that Sheila never mentioned stopping by her house while she was gone. I’ll ask her about that later.

Anton and Samantha were heading over to Samantha’s home girl’s house. She wanted to stop by the package shop first and grab a bottle of Tequila. Since one of Anton’s homeboys was working that evening in his uncle’s liquor store, he decided to go by there. He would definitely hook him up without proof of I.D.
“So, what’s this chick’s name?” he asked.
“Who? My friend?”
“Yeah, who is she?”
“She’s not really a friend, but someone I grew up with.”
“Okay,” Anton said.
“See, most of my friends are uppity, bourgeois, and are snobs. They think I’m just like them, because we all grew up in the same neighborhood, but I actually hate the way that they act. I only go around them to get a good laugh at the crazy shit they do for attention.” She laughed.
Anton loved her attitude and her beauty. She looked a lot like Sheila, but she was cuter. She was a red bone with luscious lips. She had nice sized breasts, and more ass than her sister. She had small eyes and a great sense of humor. He never thought someone of her caliber would even hang out with a guy like him.
“You’re okay about going to this party, right?”
“Yeah, I’m cool as long as you’re cool,” he said with a smile on his face.
“Good, because I’m cool. I know my friends are going to be all over you. You’re like new money, new meat, someone they’ve never seen before. They’re used to the preppy looking guys who wear the Ralph Lauren cashmere sweaters over their white tees with the Khaki or blue jean name brand pants. They love rocking the Ralph Lauren sneakers and plaid shorts.”
Anton laughed. He thought that was funny. He knew he’d be out of place, since he was wearing a white tee under a buttoned down striped navy and white Rocawear Shirt and a baggy blue pair of Rocawear jeans. His white and navy Air Force Ones were fresh and new, so surely they would notice that he wasn’t wearing Ralph Lauren sneakers.
He was chilling and feeling good to be going to a party with Samantha on his arm. He knew that the guys there would hate on him since he was with one of their finer chicks, but if they stepped to him, they better step correct, because he wasn’t a pushover and they would find out if they tried him.
“So have you told your sister about us, yet?” Anton asked.
“No, I haven’t said anything to her yet, because she wouldn’t understand. Honestly, her standards are high and she would expect the same from me. That’s not to down you at all, but that is just the way she is.”
“I can tell that’s how your sister rolls. So, do you have low standards or do you just want to be different by dating someone like me?”
“No, not at all. I don’t have high or low standards. My standards fall in between being with a respectful man and someone I can have my children with.”
Anton smiled from ear to ear. “So you think you could have a baby with
