The thought of it did not just hurt him but it angered him even more. This was taking a turn for the worse and she was not exactly pleased with the outcome.

“Fine. A cool off it is. But I can still contact you and see you whenever I can,” he declared.
“I...Okay, fine. But we can't be too romantic to each other. This time off is supposed to make us miss each other during our time apart,” she explained once more as if selling the idea to him.
“I'll agree to two weeks or even a month, but that's all the time I can give you and us,” he finally said.
“Thank you, Michael. I love you,” she said to him to end the call.

He was angry, confused and sad. He needed to vent. He wanted to rant. He emerged out of the bedroom with Joana looking worried at him. He was now looking even more messed up than when he got beat up by Carl. He did not look like he took her proposal well. Joana wondered what made Juliana bring it up. She wondered if she saw them kissing earlier today or if she had another man on the side. Although there was a higher possibility that she saw them kissing, she wouldn't discount the chance that she might also have a man on the side. No matter how intriguing it was, she would just have to investigate later on. For now, she had to capitalize. Michael walked up to the fridge and brought a couple more cans of beer. She eyed him with curiosity, her expression and her voice sounding playful.
“You know you shouldn't be drinking this much right away. You just got home from the hospital, mister,” she reminded him, but he ignored her as he finished his first can of beer. She sipped her beer in silence as she let him keep on drinking in front of her, not knowing what would happen next.
Michael did not want to be rude to Joana. She was a beautiful woman and a good friend, but he had nothing to say to her at the moment. She continued to drink in front of him and he did not stop her. He needed a drinking companion and since she was already drinking with him earlier, he just let her continue with it. Soon, they were both talking like fools. His alcohol tolerance had not improved through time. He was not much of a drinker, but whenever he was upset, he drank. Most of the time, he drank when he was upset with work but this time, he was upset because of Juliana. If only she hadn't left him in more pain right now then he never would have insisted on drinking.
Unlike Michael, Joana was used to drinking, and judging by how fast he kept on emptying cans, she knew he would be too drunk to remember soon, which will only make it easier to seduce him. After he had finished 6 cans of beer, he had begun slurring. Joana only drank 3 cans and by now, he was already starting to call her Juliana's name, which offended her at first but eventually she got used to it. Joana leaned down to help Michael stand up. He stood and they both walked to his room. She placed him on his bed, careful not to fall on top of him. When she stood up, he looked at her with a wicked smile on his face.
