affair but I’ll provide you with a dress and anything else you might need as well.”
“I’ll let you know,” she said, her face heating. “I had a really nice time with you last night, Avery.”

Chapter Seventeen -- Avery

Avery had dreaded this moment all morning and hated the idea of parting with Peyton. He missed her already, even though she had just gotten into her car. As much as he wanted to keep her all to himself, he needed to not rush her into anything too fast. After their night together, he could see himself proposing to her right now. But he knew it was too soon for her.
If he couldn’t be with her all the time, he could at least help take care of her, make her life easier so she wouldn’t have to worry so much. She had mentioned several times that she was raising her brother and sister without financial help, and she was going to college on top of that. He smiled, realizing what he could do. In time, he would do more but this was a start.
He grabbed his phone and called Peyton’s college. The operator transferred him to the business office where he spoke with someone about paying her tuition in full for the semester, making sure his identity would be kept secret. If she were to ask about the payment, she would simply be told it was taken care of by an anonymous benefactor. No need to make her think she owed him. With that taken care of, he went to work. It was going to be a good day.

Chapter Eighteen -- Peyton

Peyton arrived home to a full house. Her roommates had gotten her brother and sister off to school, so she didn’t have to face them this morning. Her roommates, however, were another story, wanting to hear every detail about the club and her time with Avery.
The girls piled up on the sofas in the living room, listening intently to Peyton recount everything that happened at the club. It was nice to be able to share that much with them. It seemed like they always heard about the bad stuff in her life. Sharing happy news was a nice change of pace. But she didn’t want to share everything about her and Avery’s time together.
Mandy smiled wickedly, asking the question on everyone else’s mind, “So how was he? I know you did the deed. You look well-fucked… and you haven’t had that look in a long time.”
Peyton blushed. So much for not telling everything. “He was fantastic. I won’t give details… but he was amazing.” Her cheeks grew hotter at the memory of their time together.
“Will you be seeing him again?” Brianna asked.
“I think so. He asked if I would attend a charity event with him. I really want to.”
“What would you wear to an event like that?” asked Jade.
Peyton shrugged. “Avery said he’d provide what I need. He told me not to worry about that.”
Jade opened her mouth to speak but quickly shut it. Peyton noticed, but didn’t say anything when it became clear that Jade wasn’t going to say whatever she had been about to say.

Chapter Nineteen -- Peyton

It had been a few days and Peyton decided she needed to let Avery know she wanted to attend the charity event with him. She fished around in her purse, retrieved her phone, and dialed his number.
After several rings, a woman answered. “Roderick and Associates. How may I help you?”
“I’d like to speak with Avery Roderick, please,” Peyton said with a shaky voice.
“May I say who is calling?” she woman asked
“Yes. Tell him Peyton Jameson is calling.”
    “Hold, please.”
Peyton waited for what seemed like an eternity before hearing his rich deep voice. It was insane how quickly his voice could so easily melt her worries away.
“Peyton, it’s great to hear from you. I’ve been waiting for your call. Have you made your decision about the charity event?” he asked
“I have,” she said, suddenly feeling nervous. She had never been to anything formal… but it was another chance to be with Avery. “I’d like very much to attend.”
    “Wonderful.
