enough for his thoughts to make him insane. So he did what any horny leprechaun would do, stroked himself….. *** Two weeks later, Karen left work to go home but she needed to stop by the grocery store to pick up some cat food for Maggie. She was going down each aisle seeing if there was anything extra she needed from the store. She was in the mood for something but she wasn’t quite sure what. Karen had been feeling nauseated all day but now she was hungry and tired. She was thinking she probably needed to make herself a doctor’s appointment because she must have picked up a bug or some kind of infection. About the time she walked down the tampon aisle it hit her. Tampons! She hadn’t used tampons since……. She started counting on her fingers. Shit! She hadn’t had a period since before she left for Ireland. “Fucking imp!” she muttered under her breath as she continued to count. It had been about ten weeks. How could this have escaped her attention? She hurried down the aisle to look at the pregnancy tests, grabbed one and thought better of it and grabbed two more. *** Collins was thrilled. He had been suspicious that Karen was pregnant for about four weeks now. She has been tired for about a month straight. She hadn’t been going out, just coming home and usually going straight to bed. Collins wanted her to be pregnant, dreamed of her being pregnant. How cute she would look. His tiny little Karen with a little round belly, carrying his bairn. So Collins held the mirror tight as Karen went into the bathroom with the three pregnancy tests. He watched her sit on the toilet and pee. She peed on all three tests at the same time, got up and lined up all three sticks on the bathroom counter in a row and set a timer. Collins started to suspect she had a little OCD but he didn’t care. He just wanted her. She washed her hands and went to get her a glass of Coke. She stood by the kitchen counter with the glass in her hands and fingers tapping on the counter. When the timer went off, she walked back to the bathroom………. *** Karen walked into the bathroom and looked at all three of the tests. Yup, all of them were positive. Karen walked into the den and sat on the couch. “Damn imp!” She put her face into her hands and started to hyperventilate. Maggie walked over and started rubbing herself on Karen’s leg. Karen picked up Maggie and said “What am I going to do, Maggie?” Truth was she didn’t know what to do. She wasn’t married and living in Miami alone made things a lot scarier. Karen just started wailing. Would Collins come find her? Would that be a good or bad thing? She really had no family. How would she raise a child, especially a child that was half leprechaun? She thought that the baby would probably look normal so she wasn’t worried there but would the baby be magical? How would she be able to afford daycare? Her job at the bookstore paid okay. It was a real nice book store after all. It had four stories but no free daycare. Karen’s parents had passed away about two years ago in a car wreck. Her best friend Greg was a sweet heart but how would he be able to help except for babysitting? What would she do? She looked up heavenward. “Mom, what am I going to do? Should I keep this baby or not? How am I supposed to raise a baby on my own? Mom, I need you.” This just made Karen cry harder because she was truly alone. She cradled Maggie in her arms but Maggie was done with the loving, and jumped down. She had a few girlfriends but when it came down to it, she could only rely on herself. Should she try to get in touch with Collins? Would he help her or laugh in her face? He said it himself that he thought he had got her pregnant. What did he mean by that and how would Karen go about calling him? She only knew where the cave was. “Shit, Collins…….” Karen
