Their Ex's Redrock Midnight (Texas Alpha)
something that crinkled. Cabe had left her before dawn after a shower and then leaning over the bed to give her tongue for over five minutes, so she knew he was gone.
With her other hand, she flipped back the mass of hair in her face and she nabbed the paper, bringing it to her squinting gaze. It looked like—
“Instructions,” she muttered. Then she studied the nice, masculine block handwriting, deciding she really liked it, before she got up on her elbow and looked closer.
“It’s instructions for my taxi’s security,” she whispered.
She felt the tugging of her heart for Cabe doing something that sweet, because it had to take him some time to write it all out. Any other guy would have woken her ass up and hauled her out to the taxi to explain before they had to go.
“Aw,” she whispered again reading the last bit. “Want you safe, baby. Call if you need any more explanation.” Then she looked closely at where he’d written, “Captain.” It was masculine and the meaning was very hot.
Who knew she’d like a man controlling her so thoroughly during sex?
    “Just wow,” she breathed.
But it was a fact that she’d never had a man as attractive and hot as Cabe before. The guys she’d dated and one she’d lived with that eventually cheated on her had been okay-looking in just regular and nice ways, but not like Cabe’s every-female-would-turn-to-look way. It was scary being with a guy she thought was that attractive, and she knew his hotness took over her brain at times.
The fact he was bossy in bed made it easier for her to be with him. It made her know he dug it, because he was the boss but kept coming back for more. She wanted to give him that as much as she wanted it from him. Maybe the wild willingness he’d dug out of her was just waiting for the right man.
She hadn’t had a clue when she’d chanced that first kiss that this is what would happen. Of course she’d thought she was probably going to get sex in the back of her taxi, which was the wildest thing she’d ever done sexually.
Rusty knew she thought it would be some groping; maybe she’d get lucky enough to get some finger climax before he’d relived his marriage gone horribly wrong on her. But then he’d wanted to put his amazing mouth between her legs and she’d freaked. Never ever good at that, but seconds later her objections had blanked out in delicious ecstasy and Cabe had proven she was in fact good at that and maybe it was just her earlier partners who’d been bad at that. After that she’d had no choice but to pursue more.
So the fact was she didn’t know an enormous amount about Cabe, beside the point he was conquering her in bed and she liked it, but that day she started learning more, and none of it came directly from Cabe.
After she started work later that morning she got her first Cabe call that wasn’t Cabe calling, but it was about him. It was Tess. Rusty had to mutter through the first part of Tess’ call because she had a fare in back and it was not professional to be just gabbing on her cell while driving a customer.
“I know you’re working, but just listen,” Tess said.
Rusty muttered back, and Tess took that as the okay to spill.
“Rusty, Cabe’s moved out. I know this because Cabe got Vincent to help him move his things here to our big storage. But Cabe’s not staying here. I didn’t get that part, I just know Vincent would have asked me if Cabe was staying.”
Rusty felt conflicting emotions over all that, and the ability to not voice them was not helping as hope and fear kind of blossomed in her chest. He’d left her. God, he’d actually left his wife.
“Vincent told me not to take any calls from Vega or any in-persons either,” Tess shared, to Rusty’s mute breathing. “Not that I would anyway. You know me and her do not get along.”
That was the truth, Rusty thought gratefully, putting her mind into another place from freaking out. It had nothing to do with her and Cabe either,
