glanced over her shoulder, confusion etched on her face. “Them? I don’t know ‘em. They’re just customers.”
“Are they holding hands?” he blurted out. Why the fuck am I asking that ? What the hell’s the matter with me?
    “No. Why?”
Pissed at himself for asking such a wimpy-ass question, he clenched his jaw. “Get my beer.” Looking away, he dismissed her.
“Okay.” She shuffled to the kitchen.
Throttle pretended to be engrossed in the dessert menu, but his ears were pricked on Kimber and the cowboy’s conversation. From the bits he could hear, he gathered they were on their first date. He watched her as she spoke, fascinated with the way her pink tongue skimmed over her front teeth before disappearing in her mouth. With the way her ebony hair framed her face, her flawless skin looked almost like porcelain. He wondered why he hadn’t noticed that before. Her smoky makeup made her eyes more intense, and the gloss on her lips made them fuller and oh-so-tempting. For a split second, Throttle had the urge to go over to her table, yank her to him, and then suck and nip on her bottom lip before driving his tongue into her mouth.
What the fuck am I thinking? Damn, I need to get laid like now. Maybe I can take Big Tits out back for a quickie. I gotta get rid of this crazy fire. Then her blue orbs locked on his dark ones. For a breathless second, they pulled each other in; it was like lightning tearing through his body. And from the surprise, then panic, reflected in her eyes, he knew she felt it too. Breaking contact, she looked down, but the intensity was still there, crackling in the air between them.
Cowboy turned around and ran his gaze over Throttle’s taut face. So he noticed something sparked within her. What in the hell was that ? He’d never felt such a sensation like that with any woman. Hell, he hadn’t felt anything but lust with a woman for a very long time.
“Your beer.” Peggy giggled as she placed a large plastic glass full of beer in front of him. “We going to Arrow Lake later?” She brushed the top of his hand with her fingers.
Forcing himself not to look at Kimber again, he grabbed his beer and chugged it. He wiped his mouth with his hand. “Maybe.”
“I heard you like taking women there.”
“You hear a lot of shit ‘bout me, don’t you?”
She smiled. “You’re a popular guy. So if we go there, are we gonna skinny dip?”
He knew Kimber was watching him; he could feel her pull. “Not into swimming.”
Peggy chuckled and squeezed his arm. “It doesn’t matter. I got a feeling I’m gonna be real wet anyway. You get my meaning?” She ran her fingers through his thick hair.
Damn, the black-haired vixen is doin’ a fuckin’ number on me. And what the fuck is Big Tits jabbering about? Looking at Peggy, he nodded absentmindedly. Cowboy swiveled around and waved her over.
“I gotta get this, honey. Be back soon.” She went over to Kimber’s table, and Throttle watched with interest as she stood at the booth.
After she wrote something on a notepad and went to another table, he saw Kimber lean back and laugh at something Cowboy said, each note of her laughter hitting him in the groin. Saying something to Cowboy that Throttle couldn’t hear, she slid out of the booth and walked to the hallway where the bathroom was. Without thinking, he jumped up and followed her, settling himself in a corner as he waited for her to come out of the ladies’ room, hoping Peggy wouldn’t come and look for him.
A few minutes later, Kimber exited the bathroom, adjusting her short black skirt. “Hey there,” he said in a deep, hushed voice. From the way she jumped and whirled around, he knew he’d startled her.
Locking on his face, she took a step back. “Oh… Hi.”
Not wanting Peggy to come up to him, he grasped a startled Kimber by her wrist and tugged her behind him as he pushed open the door which led to the alley. Outside, the heat surrounded them, and the smell of
