more stunts like that!â
âIâm full of them.â Starman grinned.
Despite the heat, the near-death experience and his partnerâs suicidal tendencies, Mythric could not bring himself to be annoyed â the ride was just too exhilarating.
âWell, at least your arse wonât be sitting around getting fat on a beach,â Starman chided in challenge, and accelerated up a rocky mound. âYeehaw!â He cut the engine, swung the bike up into a vertical forward flip and restarted the air jets to land safely.
When Zeven looked back to get Mythricâs reaction to his stunt, the man was shaking his head.
âYour parents must be nervous wrecks!â
Zevenâs good vibe vanished. âI wouldnât know.â
They rode through the canyon a little more, until the tall canyon walls narrowed to provide a stretch of ground shielded from the sun. Zeven stopped his bike and hopped off.
âHey, sorry about the parent thing ââ Mythric attempted an apology but Zeven waved him to silence.
âDonât mention it,â Starman suggested. â Ever .â
âGood-o, I wonât.â Mythric remained seated on his bike and wiped the sweat from his brow. âWe could have brought some water.â He was still grinning with childish delight, until Zeven manifested two ice-cold bottles of water and tossed one to him.
âThat explains what I do.â Zeven decided to be right up-front about it. He drank some water, then poured some over his head.
âYouâve got PK?â Mythric was stunned. âThatâs rare.â
Zeven nodded to acknowledge that he was aware of that.
âJust space? Or have you mastered time and dimension as well?â Mythric queried, seeming rather more calm about the news than most people would be.
âIâve shifted through time and space, and I do believe into a different dimension on a few occasions ⦠but I didnât really have any control in those instances.â
Mythric whistled to emphasise how impressed he was, and then raised both brows as he considered. âThat explains a lot ⦠like how you could know Hunzoâs turbine is too powerful for his craft, or how you could have known the Timekeeper for years without me finding out.â
Zeven held his arms wide to concede he had nothing left to hide, and seated himself back on his bike. âSo how about you, Mythric, what do you do?â
Mythric cocked an eye, surprised that Starman could be so up-front about his psychic skills. âUp until two weeks ago, nobody else in the galaxy even knew I had a Power.â
âNothing to be uptight about,â Zeven stated his view. âPretty soon, itâs going to be all the rage.â
Mythric found this amusing and probably slightly delusional. âDoes it really matter what I do? I mean, you obviously have the power to re-arrange the universe, I canât even imagine why the Timekeeper bothered sending me.â
Zeven grinned. âBecause she thinks Iâm young, dumb and full of ⦠myself, most of the time.â He rolled his eyes and drank some more.
âYou are aware that PK is a trait of the royal Phemorian line?â Mythric said.
âWatch it, Mythric, youâre heading toward that no-go topic again.â
âSorry.â
âBesides, Iâm not telling you my life story, if youâre not going to share with the group,â Zeven chided. âIâll trust you, because the Timekeeper does, but it would be helpful to know what youâre skilled at.â
âI have many skills and they are all at your disposal,â Mythric granted.
âBut youâre not going to tell me what they are?â
âI can fly just about anything, I have extensive communication, navigation and weapons training, Iâve ââ
âI meant psychic skills, Mythric,â Zeven stated the obvious.
âI have trust issues,â the older
