that?â
âI was thinking that if heâs that good with two rings, heâll be spectacular with five. Thatâs golden.â
âWhat does that even mean?â
âMmm.â Marlie smiled a little smile as she typed.
Ty felt out of his depth, a totally foreign feeling. Depth like this was supposed to be his specialty.
âThis next guy is all about laying.â
Of course he was.
Marlie clicked the mouse to bring up the next photo. Sure enough, there was a guy holding a goose. Shirtless. The man, not the goose. Though technically, the goose was already shirtless. âAxelle found these guys?â Tyâs voice was pitched higher than normal.
âYes. Isnât it great?â
Ty deliberately relaxed his throat. âCouldnât she have found anyone with a hobby requiring clothes?â
âYou mean like a sports uniform?â
âYes.â Ty thought about baseball. âExactly.â
Marlie brought up the next picture. âBehold. Seven Swans a Swimming.â She glanced up with mock innocence. âCheck out the uniforms.â
Speedos. Speedos worn by men with no body fat. Or modesty. âThe entire swim team?â
âNo,â Marlie said, her voice regretful. âJust him.â She cropped the other men out and enlarged the remaining swimmer, not that he needed enlarging, a point amply made by the skin-tight suit. âBut heâs enough, donât you think?â
âYes. Plenty.â Which one of them had been afraid no one would bid on him? Sheesh. Ty didnât lack for self-confidence, but these guys were enough to make him add another mile to his morning run.
âAnd heâs a breast stroke champion. I should put that in the caption.â
âMarlie.â Tyler began to sweat. Heâd never seen this side of her. He didnât know she had this side. She should keep this side to herself. He didnât want to be responsible.
He wasnât responsible, was he?
âWhat?â
Eight maids a milking was up next and Ty could only imagine. âHow is it possible for you to make âThe Twelve Days of Christmasâ sound smutty?â
âSmutty?â Marlie looked the picture of offended virtue. âTyler, these men are donating their time in an effort to raise money for a program that provides a positive activity for underprivileged youth when theyâre most vulnerable to bad influences. What exactly do you find smutty about that?â
âIââ
âFurthermore, Iâve been posting all these auction items and Iâve yet to see what youâve donated. Donât you support the business mentors program?â
âI donated you,â he said.
Marlie blinked. âExcuse me?â
He gestured to the screen. âI suggested you for the website, since you do Axelleâs restaurant already.â
Marlieâs eyes narrowed. âYou mean I do the work and you get the credit?â
How did he end up the bad guy, here? âIâm covering the expenses for the site and your fee after the discount.â
âOh.â She looked back to the screen. âIâd like to tell you to forget about my fee, but I need the money.â
âNo problem. Youâve put in a lot of hours and it wasnât really your cause to begin with.â Or his, but that didnât mean it wasnât worthwhile. âYou should find a cause. Volunteering would be a good way for you to interact with people.â Andby people, he meant men. And by interact, he meant talking in a controlled setting that was not a bar.
âIâm volunteering right now.â Marlie had flipped into her photo editing program and was removing background clutter from the crop of the swimmer. âAnd I am so interacting.â She zoomed in on his head and removed the red rings his goggles had left around his eyes. âThere. Not that anyone is going to be looking at his face.â
