his thumb, suckled gently on her sensitive bud and then tugged it until it
almost hurt but sent a shock of pleasure to her pussy at the same time.
Somehow she found it admirable that he didn’t attempt to
deny the frequency of his affairs.
“I avoid these kinds of activities while you seek them out.”
The last word came out as a scream when he switched to her other tit and sucked
again to the point where pleasure and pain were a blurred line.
“Who hurt you so badly that you want to deny yourself
pleasure?”
She debated internally about lying to him. In this case it
might be easier to lie and what would it matter? By next week, she’d never see
Kyle Macintyre again. Still, the truth spilled out automatically. “My
ex-husband.”
His hand slid to her abdomen and his lips nuzzled her ear.
“What happened?”
The memory of her ex quelled some of her passion, and she
rose on her elbows and looked him directly in the eyes. “He didn’t take the
whole monogamy thing all that seriously. Why do you want to know all of this?”
She hated the desperate sound her voice had taken on. She wanted to seem like
none of it mattered, but of course that was a lie. Charley was no good at
lying.
She’d expected her sudden outburst to end the encounter. She
was already kicking herself for breaking the mood and feeling a bit relieved at
the same time. She knew Kyle was trying to put her at ease. She knew he just
wanted them both to enjoy the sex. She couldn’t fathom why it mattered to him
if she had a good time, but she could tell that it did.
Instead of moving away and dressing as she’d expected, he
leaned his chest over hers and eased her back down to the soft mattress, while
sliding his fingers under the triangle of her thong.
“I told you we were going to be friends, Charley. Friends
want to know the good as well as the bad. I want to know, because I care.” Even
as he said it, he gently caressed the soft flesh of her lower abdomen.
She didn’t know what to say. She’d never met anyone like
him.
“How long had you known he was having an affair?”
A small squeak of sound escaped her lips as he slid his
fingers back and forth along the swell of her mound. “I…I’d known all along. He
was never faithful.
It was completely crazy that they were having this conversation
at all, let alone having it while his fingers distracted her.
He stilled. “Why did you stay?”
She would have given anything to have had the ability to lie
in that moment. She wanted to say something clever and brush off the situation
that had left her in pieces. “I didn’t want to be a failure. I thought if I
left he would have made a fool of me.” She pushed his hand away and sat up. “In
the end, I let him make an even bigger fool of me when he walked out.”
His hand closed around her shoulder keeping her from leaving
the bed with steady but gentle pressure. “He’s the fool. He was lucky to have
you. It was his duty to make you happy.”
She turned back toward him. “You really believe that?”
He shrugged. “That’s what marriage is meant to be, two people
making every effort to give each other happiness.”
    “Not in my experience.”
He gave a laugh that held no joy. “I’m only going by my
parents and maybe my own hopes.”
She touched his cheek and leaned back into his waiting arms.
“It’s a nice dream.”
He smiled and looked into her eyes. “I will never lie to
you, Charley. I have no idea what might happen between us. Maybe it will be
nothing more than one night. Maybe you’ll break my heart. I only know that I
like you and I want you. Your ex was an asshole. Don’t let him ruin the rest of
your life. He already got too many years that he didn’t deserve.”
His hand moved lower and one finger slid between her lips
into her wetness. Her hips pressed up against his caress. Her eyes closed and
she let another cry of pleasure escape. He brushed her clit with one finger
before dipping it into her
