Six hundred, Miller,”
“I’m serious,” Chase stood there staring at Vice, and he was serious. I have seen this look, and I know this impending outcome. It was starting to scare me.
“I won that money from you. If you didn’t want to get your ass kicked, then why the fuck did you sign up for the tourney? Oh, I know… because your cocky ass was way too confident. Right, Miller?” Vice took a step closer to Chase and I freaked out. I know for a fact that my brother carries a gun, I can’t let this happen. Not tonight, not to Vice.
“You know what, Chase?” I had had enough. “Fuck this,” I walked around Vice, grabbing my brother by the collar of his polo and pulling him outside. I needed to talk to him and ask him what the hell is problem is.
“Harlow,” Vice reached his arm out for me. “I don’t want you to-”
“It’s fine, I know him. Just give me a second, please,” The look of shock, and hurt that displayed all over Vices features broke my heart. I think I just died a little.
After we were outside and I made sure that Vice wasn’t going to follow us, I let him have it.
“Fuck you, Chase!” I pushed him backwards.
“What?” he started laughing, catching his balance.
“Don’t what me! What the hell are you doing to him?” I poked his chest with my fingertip. “He is a good person, with a good heart. He doesn’t deserve you treating him like this because he won’t play in your casino,”
“Hey, you have this all wrong, sister. He has money that belongs to me,” he crossed his arms like he made a valid point.
“What!? He beat you at a game of poker you insisted on signing up for. How is that his fault!? You have been seeking him out for the last four years because of the reputation you heard about him. All he does is work and play poker for leisure. What is fifty six thousand dollars to you, Chase? You are worth millions! After four years, you should know by now that he will never step foot into Nostalgia, and will never enter into a tournament with you either, and as far as the tournament you signed up for this next weekend at the Mirage, don’t be surprised if he whoops your ass again!” I took a deep breath placing my hands on my hips.
“Maybe it is a good thing that he hasn’t came to the casino. I think he would be completely ashamed to see you there,” he stepped closer to me. “I’m sure the last thing a guy wants to find out is that his girlfriend is a hooker,”
I slapped him across the face, taking a quick glance at the shops windows. Vice wasn’t watching, thank God. “How dare you say that about me, Chase. You know better than that. If it weren’t for me and my making The Lily Room, you wouldn’t have half of the business you have today. I have made you millions of dollars, jackass. As far as I see it, you will go in that shop, and you will pay Vice the money you owe him for the tattoo. Half of the money that you make every week should damn well be mine… take it as a change loan,”
“What if I don’t?” he rubbed his red printed cheek with his hand.
“I will call dad and tell him about your little side businesses that he unknowingly paid for,” I threatened. My father gave Chase a million dollars to start Nostalgia. Little did my father know that at the time, he was also starting a side business that consisted of a drug ring, and hookers.
“Bullshit, you would never call dad,” he laughed.
“You bet your ass I would,” I crossed my arms. “Fucking try me, Chase,”
“Fine, I will pay for the damn tattoo. But I swear to God, Harlow if you say one word to dad, I will kill you,” he warned, pointing his finger in my face. He would, too. He could give two shits about me.
“I am not finished yet,” I started. “And-”
“And what, Harlow?” Chase glared at me.
“And, you will not say a damn word about my working for you at Nostalgia, or that you are my brother. Do you understand me? So help my God, I will tell dad everything and you
