savored every bite. âAt least most of the cupcakes stayed dry.â
âEven if I didnât,â Jenna said, bundling herself in a towel.
âI wouldnât call it a disaster at all.â Mr. Warren suddenly appeared behind them. âEveryone is talking about that thrilling pirate show in the pool,â he told them. âYou made quite a splash, ladies.â
Leo and Mitchell breathed a huge sigh of relief that their boss was pleased. âPass me a cupcake,â Mitchell told Kylie. âAfter all that drama, I need one.â He popped three in his mouth, one after the other.
âDark chocolate ganache,â he said, licking his fingers. âMy favorite.â
âSo what are your plans for the rest of the cruiseânow that youâre off duty?â Leo asked the club.
âSun and fun,â Delaney said. âFinally!â
âAbout thatâ¦â Mitchell interrupted her. âThe forecast is calling for rain tomorrow.â
Delaney rolled her eyes. âI give up. I just give up.â
âWeâll still have plenty of time in the Bahamas, and the captain promised me heâd make a special stop in Florida on the way home since some of our VIPs missed their excursion to Disney World.â
âYes!â Delaney pumped her fist in the air. âMagic Kingdom, here I come!â
Jenna made a face. âDo you think we could maybe skip the Pirates of the Caribbean ride?â she asked her friends. âI think Iâve had enough adventure on the high seas for one trip.â
Meanwhile, Harold had a chance to flip through the images Marisol had taken with his camera.
âThese are excellent,â he told her. âYou truly have an eye.â
Marisol shrugged. âYa think?â
âI do,â he replied. âAnd I have a surprise for you. Be at the lobby tomorrow morning and youâll see.â
Marisol had no idea what Harold was planningâbut she realized she couldnât lie to him anymore.
âMr. Hammond,â she began. âAbout Lucyâ¦â
âYou got her wet,â he said. âI saw some condensation inside the lens while I was shooting.â
âIâm so sorry. It was stupid and irresponsible, and I wouldnât blame you for never trusting me with your equipment again.â
âWell, that would be a problem,â he replied. âYou see, Iâve decided to come out of retirement, and Iâll be needing an assistant to help me this summer. I was hoping youâd be interestedâand Iâll pay you for whatever shoots you come along on.â
Marisolâs face lit up. âYou mean it? That would be amazing!â
âOf course,â he reminded her, âyouâll need to get your parentsâ permission.â
Marisol sighed. âThat means telling my mom that Iâm not going to be a doctor.â
âI think sheâd rather hear the truth from you than lies,â Harold said. âI know I would. And after tomorrow, I think youâll have an easier way to tell her.â

Immediately after breakfast, Marisol, Maggie, Jenna, and the rest of PLC filed into the shipâs lobby. There were chairs set around a stage.
âWhat do you suppose that is?â Jenna asked her sister. She pointed to what looked like several easels draped in cloths.
âI donât know. Harold said it was a surprise.â
Kylie checked the shipâs daily schedule. âIt says 9:00 a.m. art exhibit.â
Guests began filling up the chairs in anticipation. Leo and Harold walked up on the stage to introduce the event.
âIt gives me great pleasure to introduce one of the finest photographers in the world, Mr. Harold Hammond,â Leo said in the microphone.
Harold bowed modestly. âThis exhibit is not about me,â he told the audience. âItâs about a young talent that Iâve discovered right here on this ship.â
