do?”
“First, she’s in there eating like she had
nothing in weeks. Then she started accusing me of trying to pimp
her out when I told her we wasn’t doing nothing.”
Cairo started laughing.
“Seriously, Cairo. Something is seriously
wrong with her.”
“Of course it is. Bitches are crazy. Can you
believe that stunt that Tracey pulled?”
“I’m still trying to figure out if you knew
she worked here?”
Cairo stopped smiling. “Yeah, I knew. But
fuck her. You said you didn’t want to be seen, and this is the
perfect place.”
“You cold, man. You forgot to tell me you got
her pregnant.”
“If you fall for that pregnant shit, you’re
fall for anything. Almost every bitch that I fuck with tells me
that. Even if I used a condom.”
“Is it a possibility that she is?”
“It ain’t impossible. But take my word for
it, she just trying to get my back.”
Ray resigned. “You know what? I’m not going
to overload my brain wondering about your mess. Just handle your
business and come on. I have to get home.”
“Alright, but let me tell you something real
quick. I’m the heir to a multi-million dollar business, and these
money-hungry bitches will do any and everything to lock me in. And
if I fell soft to every bitch that sucked my toes or cried that
pregnant shit, my fortune would be owed out before I actually
inherited it. Now I’m not saying that’s every female’s initial
intention, but once they find out what I’m worth, I see the change
in all their eyes. So that’s why I drag their asses like I do. I’m
at war, baby.”
“Do you, brother. I guess you know what
you’re doing.”
“You damn right I do. A bitch won’t get one
band from me.”
“Just hurry up, please. I want to beat my
girl home.”
Cairo headed to the ice machine wondering
which ice trick Shay was about to perform on him.
Chapter 11
Ty,
The last letter I got from you was so sweet. I can
tell it came from deep down in your heart. I just want to say thank
you for writing and letting me know you will always have my back.
The truth is, you’ve always had my back, that’s why I’ve always
been so loyal to you. I remember when we first met, I used to put
my friends (or people who I thought were my friends) before you. I
put you on the back burner, and that wasn’t right. I’m sorry for
the times I hurt you, which caused you to hurt me in return because
you were hurt. Now, I just want to let you know that I don’t plan
on going nowhere as long as I’m treated fair. In return, I plan on
treating you like a king and show you UL for as long as I live.
UL,
Misty
Misty placed the letter in an envelope
just as the door bell rang. “Who is it?” she asked, walking to the
door.
“It’s me; open up.”
She opened the door and quickly walked away
to prevent Wendy from seeing her tears.
“Give me a minute, will you?”
“Sure. What’s wrong with…” she trailed off
when Misty slammed the bathroom door behind her. She went to the
door and heard her crying.
“Talk to me, Misty. What’s wrong?”
“I…I miss him so bad.”
“I know but-”
“I could be at the mall not even thinking
about him and I crumble when I see a couple, because I know they’re
living our life.”
Wendy’s heart went out to her friend. “I
can’t imagine how you feel, because I’ve never been in love, but
you have to get over it. It has been six months.”
Misty glanced at her UL tattoo and began to
shake her head. “How can I? Everything about myself reminds me of
him. We made a vow…” she sobbed.
“I wished I knew what to say. It’s killing me
to see you suffer like this. Hush…just open the door so I can give
you a hug. I know that’ll help some.”
Misty came out a minute later and fell into
her arms. “Why is God doing me like this? It’s not fair,
Wendy!”
Wendy half carried her to the bedroom and
laid her on the bed. “Just let it out, you’ll feel better.”
“It’s just not fair! I don’t
