Vaughn.
Would I get in any more trouble with Brady for taking off after all this?
“Alright, fine,” I said. “I give up. Let me go talk to my manager.”
But Vaughn shook his head and nuzzled into my ear. “Let’s just go. I don’t want to wait.”
I was in half a mind to shove those pants down and let him take me right up against this wall, but the last traces of sanity I had reminded me I was doing enough damage already.
“I don’t want to wait either.” I ran a finger between the spread of that muscular chest, then ducked out of his embrace. “But I’ll still need a job when I’m done with you.”
“Done with me?”
“Tomorrow morning.”
His brow popped in surprised, but he recovered. “I guess so. But hurry it up. Or I might not be here.”
“You will,” I said, feeling a new confidence. I could almost hear him harden like wood behind me.
Brady would be in the office. I didn’t quite have an excuse in mind, so illness would have to do. I knew the girls working tonight wouldn’t rat me out. Business was light and it was a one-time thing anyway.
That’s what you said last time , I reminded myself.
Another voice of conscience hit me as I rounded the bar.
“That’s the same guy, isn’t it?” Jeannie asked from behind the booth.
“Yeah, and I don’t want to hear it. I already know everything you’re gonna say.”
“Well then, at least tell it to yourself,” she said. “He’s got you cutting out early now?”
I squared off against her. “It’s fine. You’re not going to tattle right?”
She rolled her eyes. “It’s not about that. I’m just worried for you.”
“Don’t be. I’m a big girl.”
She went back to her glasses and I brushed through the doors to the kitchen and made my way to the manager’s office. Brady was reclined in his computer seat in business casual, smiling dumbly at something on-screen, but he clambered upright and tapped it off as I walked in.
“Hey Meagan, how you doing?” he said, adjusting his frames and brushing back his shaggy blonde hair.
“Not great, actually.” I rubbed at my stomach. “I’m feeling pretty rough.”
I truly was still feeling something, but it was just a gnawing ache to be occupied by Vaughn.
“Oh yeah?” He examined my stomach. “What’s the matter?”
“Uh…” I made myself look embarrassed.
“Oh. OH.” He couldn’t look away fast enough. “Ok, well. Can’t you work through it? You did ask to be on the schedule.”
“I know. It’s pretty calm out there though and Marissa offered to cover.”
“Well, alright then. Just don’t make it a habit. Feel better.”
“Thanks, Brady.” I limped back out through the kitchen.
Vaughn leaned in place where I’d left him.
“Guess you didn’t leave,” I teased as I came over.
“I couldn’t after watching how your fine ass bounced as you walked away.”
“Well, I hope you make it bounce even harder tonight.” I took him by the arm. “Should we go?”
“Fuck, yes.”
We marched out and down to the gravel parking lot. Vaughn tugged me toward his pitch black Harley.
“It’s still safe here,” I said.
“I don’t want to waste any time,” he said. “Plus it’ll get you nice and loose for me.”
He got on and started to reach back and explain, but I’d already hopped astride and started to lace my arms around his firm torso.
“You ridden before,” he said.
“You’re not my first,” I said. “Sorry to disappoint you.”
His dark chuckle rumbled through me. “You’ve done a lot of things to me, girl, but disappoint ain’t one of them.”
The engines kicked on like a growling thunder. Any tension left fell loose as we tore out onto the road and rumbled the short distance to my house. I got off feeling as light as a paper doll.
Vaughn’s hands shoved down the back pockets of my jeans. Groping at my flesh, he marched me forward like a horny marionette. My legs seemed to part extra with each step.
