“Afraid?”
Chrissy blushed. “Nothing.”
“She was afraid you’d harbor a grudge toward her,” Ray interjected, slipping an arm around his fiancée. “I told her that was silly. You always take business seriously.” He snorted. “Or, I thought you did.”
Bunny smiled though gritted teeth. “You’re absolutely right…when it comes to my business, I take it seriously.” Or as seriously as she could with a naked bottom.
“See?” Ray turned to Chrissy. “The wedding will be fine. Can we go now?”
Chrissy smiled at Bunny. “No hard feelings?”
“Toward you?” Bunny shook her head and smiled at the younger woman, understanding more what Cory had meant when he said women his own age were clueless. “I don’t hold a grudge against you, Chrissy .” Just that dumbass who stole half my business.
Jack snorted, a fleeting grin spreading across his face, before he adopted his poker face again.
Cory’s blue-eyed gaze focused on Ray and he stuck out a hand. “Just wanted to say thanks.”
Ray grasped Cory’s hand, his eyes narrowing. “For what?”
With his other arm, Cory pulled Bunny snugly against him. “For leavin’ Bunny. She deserves better.”
Chrissy gasped, and Ray dropped Cory’s hand and glared. “How dare you?”
Cory shrugged. “Just callin’ it as I see it.”
Ray and Chrissy left the shop in a hurry, without saying goodbye, the doorbell jingling merrily in their shocked wake.
Even as the door closed, Jack and Cory were laughing.
Bunny couldn’t be mad at them, not with the aftershocks of her orgasm still rippling through her. “If you two are through disrupting my work, could you leave?”
Jack saluted. “Yes, ma’am.” He grabbed her and bent her over in a long, romantic kiss, then set her on her feet. “Be thinkin’ of me.”
Bunny smoothed her hair and struggled to regain her equilibrium when Cory caught her and crushed her to him.
“And be thinkin’ of me.” His hand slid down to her bottom, lifting the hem of her dress to cup her naked ass.
“Guys, I’ve got work to do,” she said, her voice breathless, her nerves on fire.
Cory nodded and leaned close, his eyelids slanting low. “We dare you to go commando all day.” He winked, kissed her and said, “It’ll get you in the mood for later.” With that parting comment, the two men left.
Bunny stared after them until they disappeared down the street.
Later? What did they mean later?
At half past twelve, Bunny still hadn’t finished loading her delivery van with the morning’s collection of flowers to be delivered. If she didn’t get a move on, she’d be arranging tomorrow’s bouquets well into the evening and miss the Temptation Garden Club meeting with Lacey. Though Lacey had already proved her point with the snooty old guard of the club at the last meeting, she could still do with a friend to watch her back and be there for moral support.
Why Lacey went to the meetings was beyond Bunny. After the old biddies treated Lacey so badly when she got her divorce, Bunny couldn’t understand why Lacey ever went back. Then again, since she and Nick McBride had hooked up and moved into his big new house, Lacey had taken a whole new interest in gardening to establish the flowerbeds around her new place. She’d never been happier.
Bunny sighed and stared around her work area without seeing it. Lacey and Nick were so silly in love it made her envious. As soon as that thought popped into her head, more images of Cory and Jack sizzled through her mind, reminding her that she was still panty-less. Her pussy clenched, and she reached beneath her dress, pressing against her mound to ease the ache. What would it be like to be loved? Really loved. Ray had never been that sensitive to her needs. He’d never been interested in showing her new and different ways to quench her desires. Get in, get out and get back to his television program was all he’d been interested in.
