usually go around kissing girls and say things like ‘We are bound together’ then turn around and say it can’t happen?” I shook my head and pushed up off the table to get up and go back to work. I could not deal with this right now. Not in front of everyone at work. He grabbed my wrist stopping me in my tracks.
“It’s not that I don’t want to…It’s just…look it’s complicated right now Veronica.” Are you kidding me? Was he really giving me the ‘It’s not you, it’s me’ Mumble jumble crap? I guess there was some human in him after all.
For him to come up with such a human line he had to have learned it somewhere. I laughed out loud “Are you serious right now Liam?” I said snatching my hand out of his. He took off his shades and rubbed his face. Then he squeezed the bridge of his nose like he was tired of fighting. I looked into his red ruby dragon eyes and noticed something surreal. It was the first time I saw some type of human trait in them, his eyes were sad. “What is it you’re not telling me Liam?” I ask, paranoid now.
“Look its nothing. Are you working tomorrow?” he started to put his shades back on, which meant that this visit was over. He was done talking.
“Have you been staying over at Dominion?” I asked only wanting to know if he was close by.
“Yes, I’ve been going over some things with Devon, personal things. Can I pick you up tomorrow so we could start your training?” He asks as he got up, and pulled up his hood.
“No, I don’t work tomorrow. How come you aren’t staying with me anymore? Isn’t that what you said you were supposed to do?” I was looking for the answers in his eyes, but I could see nothing there now since he already had his shades on and his hoodie up. It was as if he was trying to hide what he really wanted me to know
“Because it’s just easier this way.” We were silent for a few seconds
“Fine, I will see you tomorrow then.” I said, then made a beeline to the bathroom without looking back to see if he made his exit out of the restaurant. I wanted to cry, cry for the rejection I felt from him just now, and the secret he felt he couldn’t share with me. I swallowed past the heavy lump in my throat, washed my face with cold water and got my emotions in order. I should be used to this by now. People always seemed to disappoint me anyway. It was what has been happening to me since the day I was born. Why would I feel it was going to be any different with Liam? Then again it was his job to make things better for me, not worse.

For some reason I was at the waterfalls again and I knew that I was dreaming. This time Liam is in his human form. He’s lying down in the grass next to the water basking in the sun. His hands are propped behind his head and his eyes are closed. He looked so serene and relaxed.
As I made my way towards him, I notice that he was wet, which could only mean he just went for a swim. The water droplets gave him a sparkle effect which reminded me of Edward Cullen from that Twilight movie. I always thought men who sparkled were sexy. Liam did it way better than Edward though.
He started to chuckle, and I remembered that he could read my mind, how embarrassing. I smack my forehead for letting that one little detail slip. I dropped down next to him and lay beside him looking up at the passing clouds, trying to come up with different shapes. It was a game I always played with my dad when I was a little girl. That much I can remember. Anything was better at this moment then thinking about how sexy he looked wet.
“Why did you bring me here?” I finally broke the silence, because I really wanted to know what this whole visit was about. One minute he’s preaching about he couldn’t be with me and the next he is doing things like this.
“I figured I would just spend as much time with you as I can, since time is precious for us.” He said still looking up at the sky with his eyes closed. I turned
