found sitting at the table towards the front shocked me to the point that I stop walking, and Amber bumped into me from behind. “What’s the matter Roni, it seemed like you saw a ghost just now?” She asks looking at me, then trying to look over my shoulder at what caught my attention.
“That’s him, by the window Amber. That’s the guy I was talking about.” I whisper so that he didn’t hear me, or even see that I was standing here. He’s wearing a black hooded sweater with the hood down. He had his shades on as well.
“Well don’t just stand there, go see what he wants. I’m sure it is not just a coincidence that he’s here Ronnie.” She said with smirk then she shoved me in his direction.
‘ We need to talk Veronica.’ I shook my head thinking that I was hearing things, and then realized that Liam was talking to me in my head again. He was now staring at me from across the restaurant, so I slowly start to make my way over to him.
He was taking my whole appearance in, checking me out from head to toe. Not caring how sexual the gesture seemed. ‘You are exquisite to look at.’ He said, and the smirk I got from him made the butterflies in my stomach do a dance.
“Stay out of my head Liam, it isn’t fair that you can read my mind, and speak to me through it as well. Especially since I barely know what you are thinking half the time.” I say to him in return, just as I reached the front of his table.
“Touché, okay then…we need to talk.” He repeated and gestured for me to sit across from him. I sat down and I started to play with a piece of napkin, twirling it between my fingers giving away how nervous I really was.
“So …talk, or are you going to just sit there and stare at me?” I say first, annoyed now because I already knew what he was going to say. That we could never be anything more and that he’s a dragon, I’m a human… blah blah blah.
“I think that it’s time you learn self-defense, and there’s no better person to teach you than me.” He said giving me a wink, and ushering Amber over to take his order. I was taken aback by what he just said. Okay, so I guess he wasn’t going to give me a lecture on us.
“Why, hello there my name is” Amber says to Liam. Liam is smiling now and I swear his smile looked exactly like it did when he was in his dragon form at the falls, except his teeth weren’t pointy.
He continued on where she left off, “Amber, yes Veronica has told me so much about you. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” He gave Amber his hand to shake, but when did I ever mention her to him? I shot him glares with my eyes because I knew the only way he knew about her, was because he was in my head again. I kicked him under the table and he jumped back in his seat. “Ow! What was that for?” He asked smirking.
“Oh, I am sorry my mistake. My leg has a funny twitch sometimes.” I gave him a wink and I knew at this point he was just as annoyed as I was. Well score one for me, I pissed the dragon off.
Amber was looking at the both of us like we were the two funniest people she had ever seen in her life. “So what can I get you, um?”
“Oh pardon me. My name is Liam and I will take a glass of ice cold water, thanks.” She took that as her cue to walk away, and winked at me like she knew something more was going on, and when she had me to herself later she was going to try and pick my brain. Great, just great.
“Is that all you wanted to talk to me about, or was there something else on your mind Liam?” All the laughter quickly left his face.
“No…Um…Well yeah, we can’t do this anymore.” He says then looks out the window with regret and sadness in his eyes.
If he was showing regret that can only mean he had some type of feelings for me right? That was a good sign, but I couldn’t just let go right now. I was too involved and he was a part of me now, so why did this decision of his, feel final?
