Kaia asked. When she hesitated, Kaia resorted to pleading.
“Please?”
Gisli smiled. “Alright. But I can only stay
for a minute or two.”
“Thank you.” Kaia’s face almost lit up.
“Gisli, I am curious, do any of you women have a particular male you consider
to be your mate?”
The redheaded girl looked at her as though she
didn’t understand the question. “No… I am afraid I don’t really understand.”
Kaia tried to figure out how to explain to her,
though that response alone should have told her everything she needed to know.
Nonetheless, she pressed for more. “For example, does one of the females only
mate with one of the males and none other?”
Gisli couldn’t stifle her laugh. “No, that
would be ludicrous! Who would do such a preposterous thing?”
Me, for one.
“Have you never heard of love, Gisli? Marriage? ”
Kaia tried again, even while realising her efforts were fruitless. Still, what
else did she have to do?
“Yes, I suppose I have a vague recollection of
those terms from my prior life. But still, are they really feasible?”
“They seem to work fairly well in the world I
come from.”
“Well, in case you haven’t noticed, this is not your world,” Gisli pointed out harshly.
“Yes,” Kaia answered, feeling discouraged.
“Still, have none of the women ever fallen in love with one of the men here?”
“No. Never,” Gisli replied. “We do not allow
ourselves to have those types of human emotions. Instead, we prefer to conduct
ourselves more in the ways of animals. They can share a fondness for one
another, a protective connection, but would think nothing of copulating with
any available member of the opposite sex who crosses their path. While sex is
unquestionably a most enjoyable pursuit, we recognise that its main purpose is
for proliferation of the species.”
“I think I understand,” Kaia said, filled with
disillusionment. “Thank you for talking with me.”
Gisli gave her a genuine smile before turning to
go.
I am fooling myself if I think he will ever be
able to feel anything more for me than just a female to breed with.
Chapter
Five
T he day of
the mating had arrived. Tonight Kaia would surrender her virginity. Give
herself to six men.
Just prior to evening meal time Astrid, the beta
female, came. As she unlocked her cage, she explained, “Because you are to be
mated to the pack, you will eat with the women tonight, and every night
thereafter.”
Kaia didn’t know what to think of this. On one
hand, since she had eaten virtually every meal for the past ten days within the
confines of her cage, she was relieved to be treated like a human again. On
the other hand, she didn’t quite know how to interact with these women who had
not only contributed to treating her in such a manner, but were also nothing
like the usual women with whom she had socialized in her real life.
Her life before being brought to this place by them .
Funny, it is already beginning to fade away, as
though it had been merely a dream. Is this what happens when one is ripped
away from everything they ever knew only to have a completely altered life
forced upon them?
Kaia stepped up out of the cage, grateful for
the chance to stretch out her legs, her knees aching from being bent so long.
“Don’t worry,” Astrid began, “that is the last
you’ll see of that cage. That is, if you are obedient for the mating tonight.
Which I am sure you will be, right ?”
What other choice do I have? Kaia
looked at her and nodded slowly.
“Good girl,” Astrid responded with a smile,
placing her hand upon the small of Kaia’s back. “That always makes it so much
easier on everyone involved.”
Astrid urged her forwards through the camp. Kaia
did not see any of the men. She supposed they were occupied with their own
pre-mating ritual. Though, only God knows what they would do at such an
occasion.
