petting my cat.”
“I’m sure Diva here has had her own sexual escapades.” Maura smiled.
“Nope. My Diva is pure as the driven snow.” Garret said.
“Hmmm…does the cat she hangs out with next door know that?” Maura jerked her thumb behind her. “He’s been outside caterwauling for her to come outside. I think he’s horny and wants to get laid.”
Garret looked toward the glass doors that lead to the back deck. He glared at the cat that was just outside looking in.
“Mister Casanova. Diva doesn’t want anything to do with him. She’s chastely dating the cat down the street.”
Okay.” Maura said slowly then. “If that’s what you want to believe.” To Diva she said. “You’re daddy is delusional.”
“Daddy is not. He knows his Diva.” Garret finished making the coffee then brought it around the island to her. He placed her cup in front of her then his at the high-backed stool. He sat beside her as Maura leaned back in her own chair. She lifted her cup and took a sip of her coffee.
“Mmmmm…good.” She sighed, a long lusty sound.
“Make that sound again and I’ll be taking you back to bed.” Garret sipped his own drink.
“You’re going to do that anyway.” Maura lifted her cup again. “After coffee. And breakfast. What ya making me?”
    “You could cook for me.”
“I’m the guest and you need to feed me.” Maura smiled. “After coffee I’ll help you make breakfast. Then later I might let you talk me into going back to bed for a little more fun. I may even want to cuddle afterward as we watch TV.”
“You have the day planned out for us.”
“Did you have something else to do today?”
    “Just leisuring.” Garret smirked.
“You don’t know how to do that.” Maura snorted. “But I’ll teach you how.”
“I’m willing to learn.” Garret cupped the hot mug and drank deeply.
Maura pushed her shoulder against his. Garret shifted his cup to one hand and put the other over her shoulder. She leaned against him as they drank.
I could get used to this.

    * * * * *

I am used too this. Garret though a few weeks later as he stared across the expanse of the couch at Maura reclining facing him. He rubbed his toes along her calf. Maura didn’t look up.
    “Stop it. We’re being leisurely.”
“I can do it very leisurely.” Garret promised.
“I know you can.” Maura smirked.
    “Come on.” Garret cajoled.
Maura lifted her head and studied him. “You’re so tempting.”
She paused and Garret readied to move to her.
“But nope.” Maura said. “We’re going to Kyle’s for dinner with your friends and mine. I’m not going to miss a chance at Zander’s food.”
“I’m hurt. You prefer Zander’s cooking to me.” Garret pouted.
    “Awww…you’re so cute.”
“Stop with the cute.” Garret narrowed his eyes. “Call me a sexy hunk of manhood.”
“Lunkhead.” Maura nodded vigorously. “That I can call you alright.”
    Garret chuckled. “Smart ass.”
“I know I am what are you.” Maura retorted.
“The man who wants you.”  He lowered his voice.
“Not the voice.” Maura said softly.
    “Yes.” He did it again.
“This calls for evasive maneuvers.” Maura rolled off the couch and ran away.
Garret rose by instinct and went after her. She laughed and dodged right. Garret matched her. Maura shrieked then ran out the entrance to the hall. He followed and almost caught her but she slipped from him then disappeared around the corner from view. Garret increased his speed and went after her. She ducked into his den and he went after her. Inside he slid left as she did and caught her by the chairs. He lifted her then lowered her on the sofa before blanketing her body with his.
    “No fair.” Maura laughed.
“All’s fair.” Garret winked. “Now I’ve caught you I’m going to have my way with you. And I promise that we’ll also make dinner.”
Maura pulled him down until their lips were almost meeting. “Forget
