off a helpless mouse. Iâm waiting for her to start licking her lips.
âCan you believe these disgusting bracelets, Eden?â Scarlett smirks, pointing her thumb at our display. âI mean, who in their right mind would spend a dime on these cheap, loser things?â
If scowls were daggers, then Scarlett would be dead, because she just got nine very sharp daggers from nine very disgusted girls, each one holding out her arm, showing off her âdisgustingâ gift from Eden Payton-Patterson.
âI would, Scarlett,â Eden says.
âWait â¦â Scarlett stammers, âI donât understand. You mean you bought a bracelet?â
âNo, I didnât buy one,â Eden replies.
Scarlett looks immediately relieved. âI knew you wouldnât buy one, of course you wouldnât. I mean â¦â
âScarlett,â Eden cuts her off, âI didnât buy just one ⦠I bought ten.â She points to her nine puppiesâ outstretched arms, and then holds up her own.
âBut ⦠but theyâre ugly,â Scarlett stammers.
âThere is only one thing ugly here, Scarlett,â Eden says calmly, âand itâs not the bracelets.â
The puppies all giggle. Missy gasps, and Anika bites her lip, staring at her feet, not daring to look at Scarlett.
Scarlett, suddenly realizing that sheâs the butt of the joke, narrows her eyes and turns toward us, glaring. Suddenly, her eyes shift toward our Wishbandz and a smile crosses her face.
âHave a nice day, girls.â She turns on her designer heel and stalks off into the school with Anika and Missy trailing behind, looking confused.
âHmmm ⦠I wonder what sheâs up to now,â I say.
âIâm sure weâll find out soon enough,â Rachel replies with worried sigh.

Easy Come, Easy Go
A wesome ⦠thatâs how Iâd describe our display of Wishbandz this morning. We went crazy last night and braided and beaded around thirty more bracelets. We got a lot of promises yesterday from kids who said they were going to bring cash today, so weâre expecting a few more sales at least. Now that Eden Payton-Patterson (the closest thing to a celebrity in our school) and her fan club are wearing them, it wonât be long before everybody wants one. Thatâs what Iâm hoping, anyway.
We set up by the front doors of the school, and like yesterday, a group of girls comes up right away. Suddenly, the crowd around us starts growing and growing until we have what seems like half the school surrounding us.
âI want the blue one,â one kid says.
âI want three of those army-green beaded ones,â another girl says.
âCan guys wear them?â a really cute dude from ninth grade yells out.
Rachel looks at me in amazement. âYeah, totally!â She shouts. âHey guys, we need everyone to line up.â
Suddenly, the whole group starts shuffling themselves into a lineup.
âWow, they listened,â she whispers, flashing me a smile.
âWeâre in the money, Rachel,â I whisper back.
âStill trying to sell your crap, I see,â Scarlett says, snickering, as she, Anika, and Missy strut past the kids in line.
âHmmm ⦠I donât think weâre trying to sell anything, Scarlett,â Rachel replies. âOur Wishbandz are selling themselves.â
âNot for long,â Scarlett whispers to us with a satisfied smirk. âThe principal wants to see you in her office, A-Sap.â
âNow?â I cry.
âThatâs what A-Sap means, loser,â Anika sneers.
Rachel sighs. âShe wants both of us?â
âYes, both of you!â Missy snaps. âWait ⦠does she?â She looks at Scarlett for an answer.
âShe wants to see both of you ⦠now!â Scarlett looks positively blissful.
Rachel shakes her head. âWhat did you do, Scarlett?â
