just an excuse to talk to you.”
She shook her head. Were they talking about the same thing?
He snaked out a hand to pull her in front of him and pressed his face into her breast. “All I wanted was one date with you, but you never seemed interested. So, I used the first excuse I could think of to get closer to you instead of just asking you out. I know --”
She placed a finger over his lips. His gaze lifted to meet hers. Virginia replaced her finger with her mouth, and kissed the idiotic man with every fiber of her being. Jake returned her kiss with a passion that would have made her weep if it hadn’t awoken her body.
She ended the kiss and smiled down at him. “I don’t care how or why you finally approached me. I’m only glad that you did. I had sex with you and plan to do so again in the near future because I want to. It had nothing to do with any unrequited feelings for Quinn.”
A grin pulled at the corner of his lips. He tugged at her dress. “I have to warn you. I am nothing like him. I’d rather play video games than watch sports. I prefer Star Wars to Star Trek , and --”
“Aren’t they the same things?” He groaned, and his hands dropped from her waist. By some miracle she didn’t giggle. “I’m teasing.” She placed a hand under his chin and forced his face up to meet her gaze. “If you don’t mind the occasional séance, I won’t mind that you aren’t quite normal either. Deal?”
His eyes crinkled at the corner from a barely-there smile, and he nodded. She shrugged her dress off. When he kissed her breasts one after the other, she raked her hands through his hair. “I have an idea.”
His cock twitched against her leg, and he reached for a condom from the nightstand.
She laughed. “That wasn’t what I was talking about.” Jake froze. “Oh, don’t look at me like that. There is nothing I would rather do than make love in this bed to just you and you alone, but I was thinking about afterward.”
His fist tightened around the condom. “After?”
“Yes, after tonight when we go back to our normal lives.” She stepped away from him and crawled to the middle of the bed. “Come here.” When he hesitated, she reached over and wrapped a hand around his already hard length. With no resistance, he settled on top of her.
In between the kisses she sprinkled over his neck and upper chest, Virginia said, “Here is what I think. Tonight, we have sex as many times as humanly possible, without anyone or anything else involved. And tomorrow, we go on a date.”
“A date?” His mouth, hot and needy, traced the shell of her ear.
She shuddered. “Yes, I want to date you. If we can do the dating thing half as well as the sex part, I am never letting you out of my sight.”
His hand snaked between them to slip on the condom. “As you wish.”
As he slid into her wet heat with a satisfied groan, she whispered into his ear, “I think I love you too.”
She felt his lips pull into a grin against her neck moments before he whispered, “I know.”
