back on, rolling to the other side of the bed and grab my phone. I have no text from Slade.
I get out of bed, walk across the room to the closet and grab the box from the shelf. I open it and pull out the big book of spells and sit down on the closet floor.
I am not sure what I need. But I will know when I see it.

Chords
“Let’s go over that set one more time,” Slade says, he grips the microphone a sheen of sweat on his forehead. He’s shirtless and his jeans are hanging low on his hips teasing me. God, I love a man with a v . Not to mention the tattoos and muscles. I could look at him forever.
“It’s like one in the morning,” Oz gripes, lighting a cigarette. He plucks a chord, cigarette hanging from his lip.
“Yeah, Karsen is going to be pissed if I am out here any longer,” Kidd tells them.
Slade shakes his head, clearly upset that everyone has lives other than playing hardcore metal.
“Are they always like this?” Dax asks. Karsen went to bed a long time ago, and I got the job of hanging out with Slade’s brother. He’s not so bad, after a week he’s starting to grow on me. So I don’t mind.
“They are always like this. And usually around this time Slade cusses them all out, Oz throws a fit and Kidd talks everyone into quitting for the day.” I laugh and watch it unfold in front of us.
“And what about you?” Dax settles back into the pillows. He has his own tattoos. They are void of color and I’m sure come with stories. I never bothered to ask though. “How does it feel to be the wife of a rock star?”
I shrug. “I suppose not any different than if he was a doctor.” We would still make time for one another.
“Yeah well… what’s it feel like to be married to someone who practices black magic?”
“He doesn’t practice,” I laugh at his question. “The most magic I see around here is when he gets six hours of sleep a night. He’s always been very strict about it. It’s not like it's something he ever wanted.”
Dax studies Slade. “Sounds like my stupid brother.”
Speaking of magic. “I have this book. It was a gift.”
He is paying attention to me now, eager to hear more. “What kind of book?”
“A book of spells. And from what I read, it’s possible you could raise the dead.” This seems to good to be true. I’ve been down this road already. But Dax has the power of a shaman. There are different rules. Believe me, I have scoured the book and the internet.
He scratches his forehead, looking confused or maybe thoughtful. “Did you read the part about the bad that can happen?”
“Of course I did. But it would be worth it if I could have my family back.”
“Even the Brit?” He eyes me, wondering if I am that sick and twisted. “Because I get the feeling Slade likes where he is.”
“Sometimes we have to make a deal with the devil to find our little piece of heaven,” I say with a sigh. “Or maybe I’m nuts.” All my excitement turns into fear. Messing with the dead is never a good thing.
“You said you see him? But you don’t see your father or grandmother. That doesn’t make much sense.” Dax looks at me, a smirk on his face.
“I’ve never been normal. And after meeting your brother I’ve become even stranger. What can I say, I’m a freak.” I sigh. “I also learned a hell of a lot from Hutch about this lifestyle. Slade thinks that’s why we’re so connected.”
    “Maybe it’s fate.”
I shake my head in disgust. “You’re nuts. Nothing about Hutch showing up in my dreams and nightmares is fate.”
Kidd starts playing bringing my eyes to the practice stage. I gasp.
“What?” Dax isn’t paying attention he’s texting some girl he met the other night.
There is Hutch standing next to the stage watching the guys play. Can Dax see him or is it just me?
I stand up and make it to the door. I can’t take another night of seeing Hutch anywhere. Especially after I let him finger fuck me.
