it still looms around them at all times—even here in Georgia.
“Did you want me to order a pizza or something?” Elliot asks from the doorway. “Because I’m hungry. And it doesn’t look like you plan on cooking.”
I nod. “Sure. Half pineapple please.” He doesn’t leave, he pulls out his phone and takes a seat on the chaise and looks at me. “Everything okay?”
“Fine.” I look at him. “What about you?” He was drinking with Dax, something I never thought my brothers would ever do after living with our dad.
“Fine.” He sighs. “You ever wish he was here?”
“I do.” He doesn’t have to explain. “Nona too. I miss her negativity.”
I think he wants to say something else. “What about cheese bread?” He gets up, phone to his ear.
“Sure. Whatever you want.” I let him leave because I don’t have the energy to deal with emotions. Emotions are freaking exhausting.
After the pizza comes, I force myself to eat three slices and a chunk of cheese bread and I excuse myself back to my bedroom with a bottle of wine.
It’s very comforting to have a glass of wine tonight. I’ll just drink one glass and close my eyes and go to sleep. Maybe tomorrow I will get some more painting done.
A soft energy coats my insides with every sip I take. I down the last of my glass and sprawl back onto my pillows. The room is dark, the moonlight cuts through the parted curtains giving my things a soft glow. And it’s quiet—silent.
The curtains shake and the whole place shifts on its axis. I brace myself before I fall off the bed onto my face. I have to be seeing things.
But there he is, on my bed looking at me.
“I thought you would figure out the more you relax the easier  for me to get here,” Hutch says with a grin. “You’re fucking sexy, doll.”
I’m not doing this again. “You’re dead, Hutch. This is a figment of my imagination.”
He touches my face, fingers moving across my skin. That doesn’t feel fake at all. “You don’t believe that.” He presses a finger into my bottom lip.
“I do believe that.” I don’t back away from him. I don’t act scared because that’s what my crazy mind wants. My mind wants to make me believe in bullshit.
His breath is against my cheek and his fingers dig into my skin pulling my jaw closer to his mouth. He’s a beautiful man, even if he is so god awful. One time I enjoyed the way he touched me.
I close my eyes, my breath quickening, this is a fantasy from my nightmares. The gods are trying to fuck with me.
And then we kiss. Hutch’s mouth presses against mine hard, fast, and with such force my head hits the bed and I’m trapped beneath his looming presence.
I kiss him back, something about this dirty fantasy is turning me on and I wish it wasn’t. I thrust my tongue against his, and I lift my head exposing my neck to him. He takes advantage and grazes my skin with his teeth.
“I didn’t think it would be this easy to fuck you,” he whispers against my ear, he pushes my legs apart so he can get between them. And he rocks his hips forward pressing his erection into me.
“This isn’t real.” The words come out in a whisper because all I can think about is how good it feels when he is grinding against me.
He gets my pants down and pulls my underwear out of the way plunging his fingers deep inside of me. I jerk and buck against him, letting him fuck me with his fingers.
    And I come—loud.
When I open my eyes I’m alone. My heart pounding against my insides. I touch my forehead trying to catch my breath. I look at the clock, it’s been several hours.
“I must have fallen asleep,” I say to myself. But when I see I’m naked from the waist down I don’t know if it was a dream at all. “What the fuck is wrong with me?” Who gets off to their enemy? I’m a married woman. I like my husband. I like having sex with him. I have orgasms with him, most girls have a hard time getting off with anyone.
I grab my underwear and put them
