out and accepted the drink, which she hugged close
to her body.
Within a matter of minutes, a hint of
colour had gradually returned to her cheeks and this allowed her the luxury of
composing herself a little. An awkward silence seemed to hang in the room for a
moment, until Vicky took back control and threw him completely off guard, as
she blurted out the next sentence.
‘You Janus Storm are the Chosen One.’ Vicky
took a moment for him to digest this information, but she didn’t see any great
reaction.
‘Up until recently you’ve led a pretty
normal life. Well that is apart from a few odd incidents, which were actually
required as part of your training. I’m afraid to say that your whole life is
about to change completely. It’s also my duty to inform you that you’ve just
been initiated by drinking the Nectar of Acceptance. This was mixed in with the
wine you drank earlier and that is the reason for why you had that strange
turn.’   Janus couldn’t believe what he
was hearing, even though he knew it to be completely true.
‘I’ve done just as I was ordered by your
people, and now I fully accept my fate following the completion of those
actions.’ Janus could only stare in disbelief at her, as the words gradually
began to sink in. This was the woman that he’d believed to be an angel. A woman
that he felt could never hurt anyone. So how the hell could he have been so
wrong? Yet Vicky simply stared back and started to speak again.
‘The nectar has already started to work
inside you. Over the next few days it will provide you with the full and
rightful powers of the Dra-Na-Zee.’ She’d clung to the book, having virtually
stated its contents from memory, but now she finally decided to place it down
as it had served its purpose. Janus watched her every move and followed its
path, but just as ittouched the
surface of the coffee table he let out a large gasp, as he struggled for air. A
sudden rush of heat started to build up in the upper part of his skull.
Suddenly, to both his and Vicky’s surprise, an extremely bright arc of yellow
light erupted from his eyes and evaporated the book in an instant. Vicky looked
absolutely terrified. Then her whole body started to shake. Fear gripped her in
a way that she’d never experienced before, and the full reality of the
situation suddenly started to dawn on her. The pair stared at the carbonated
remains on the table before returning very wary looks at each other. What sort
of powers hadhis peoplepossessed for goodness sake, and how
the heck was he supposed to retain control after what had just happened?
‘I’m afraid the effects of the Nectar of
Acceptance are permanent and there’s no way of reversing the process once it’s
started.’ Her voice whispered very quietly, as Janus sat staring blankly into
space. Vicky was the first to move, having now calmed down and stopped shaking
so much. She’d gathered up enough strength to stand and walk to the bathroom,
with the knowledge that he’d need some time to think on his own, especially as
she’d had plenty of time to come to terms with the whole thing, and he’d had
none at all.
Within fifteen of her leaving, Vicky heard
her name being shouted from the living room. Having already applied a few
touches of makeup to her face, she summoned up the courage she needed and made
her way back.
‘Come here now!’ He started to demand. Janus did not sound very happy at all.
Yet as Vicky entered, she couldn’t help but notice a definite change had
occurred in him. He even looked a lot more mature in his appearance than
earlier, and she couldn’t help but think he was now the most adorable man she’d
ever laid eyes on.   Janus felt the
immediate attraction and having sensed the sexual tension that seemed to come
with it, he decided it would be a good idea to use this to his advantage,
especially now that he held the upper hand.
