Keeping Blossom
she stays in this industry. I’ve got plenty of life-hardened women bidding for a job.”
    “Then why did you hire her?” I ask. I think she’s just trying to appease me that way I don’t make trouble for the illegal things I spotted in the club. When you see a stripper blowing a guy in the corner, it’s prostitution, which could get the owner locked up and the club shut down.
    “She lived in a shelter and looked like a lost puppy.”
    I hang up with her.
    It’s late when the club sends over the suitcase. I give the delivery boy a tip and a little more for the club’s trouble. Taking her now beat up luggage to her room, I check on her one more time. She’s curled up still wearing the white skimpy panties and bra. Her curves are illuminated by the moonlight. Grabbing the blanket from the foot of the bed, I cover her up and kiss her cheek. I’m keeping her one way or another.
    “Devin,” she murmurs in her sleep. My heart jumps out of my chest and I leave the room with a smile. Going upstairs, I jump in the shower then head to bed. I’ve got court in the morning but can hopefully be done by lunch and come back to check on her.  It’s the first night in a long time that I sleep straight through.
    ~~~~~
    I open my eyes to an unfamiliar room. It takes a moment, but it dawns on me where I am— Devin’s penthouse. Thinking about the night before, I’m embarrassed. I bawled like a baby in his arms. It felt so perfect being there, but he’s my boss now.
    Getting up, I stretch and take a look at my surroundings. It’s a small room with a lot of sunlight breaking through the curtains, then I see my suitcase. “Thank you, Devin,” I whisper. I jump out of the bed still in my bra and panties, remembering Devin removing my tight boots before he laid me down, but he didn’t take the rest of my clothes off. I’m thankful for that, but damn, the underwire dug into my skin. Bras suck, but big tits sag, so I’m forced to deal with a little discomfort.
    The bedroom has its own private bathroom. For a glorified apartment, it’s bigger than my whole family home. I take a fast shower and get dressed before he makes an appearance. Looking at the clock, it’s only six-thirty. I don’t know what time he’s supposed to start. Maybe he always leaves this early. Shit. I hate mornings. Oh well. It’s better than living on the streets wondering where my next meal is going to come from. Another bonus to not starving is just being around Devin. The man smells and looks so damn good, I wouldn’t mind letting him pay me in orgasms.
    I step out of the room and smell fresh coffee. He’s already up and doing what I’m supposed to be doing. Damn it, I need to take control before he realizes he doesn’t need me. Well, except for in his bed, not that I mind, but I need money and I won’t take it for sex. The thought is disgusting to me. It would make me no better than some of the girls at the shelter. With all my heart, I pray he doesn’t treat me like Adam. A favor for a favor. My chest aches from just the prospect of such freaking disappointment.
    When I enter the kitchen, he looks up from his tablet with a warm smile on his face. I’m like the cartoon characters with a tongue that touches the floor. Devin is fully dressed in a suit looking like perfection, but it’s his eyes that have me panting like a bitch in heat. Suddenly having him proposition me doesn’t sound like a sick idea. Shit, I’ll make him a sandwich if he’ll fuck me like his eyes promise. There’s so much there in his gaze; I feel like I’m trapped in it.
    “Good morning, Blossom,” he says so seductively, I’m mentally fanning myself.
    “Morning, Devin.”
    “Did you sleep well?”
    “Better than I have for a month.”
    “I’m glad. I was worried I wouldn’t get to see your before I left.”
    “I’m sorry. I don’t have an alarm clock and my phone…”
    “Don’t worry. I’m going to have my assistant pick you up a new phone. Before you
