Protecting Shaylee (The Fae Guard Book 1)
of my mind, I know I can only let this go so far. The last thing I need is to give her one more reason to be pissed at me. I follow the rise and fall of her tits and decide, just a little more. Wrapping my lips around one hardened peak, I can feel her heart racing and her breath exhaling in uneven puffs. My tongue swirls lightly around before sucking her nipple deep into my mouth. She cries out and my hips jerk forward involuntarily, the friction causing my cock to tighten even further, so painfully hard that I know I won’t be able to stay coherent much longer. I move to her other tit, once again pulling it deep while rocking into her a little faster.
“Baby, I’ll never get enough of you.” I whisper as I lift my head, intent on returning to her mouth. Her body suddenly stills. I glance up and see her face has hardened, her eyes swirling with a mixture of emotions, settling on anger.
“You had enough of me once before.” She presses her hands against my chest and pushes, seemingly intent on getting up and away from this conversation. I grasp her hands and raise them above her head, holding her immobile, so she can’t run away from me before we talk.
Her lips pinch in annoyance, but she doesn’t struggle. She knows she won’t be able to get up until I’m ready to let her. Her eyes are spitting fire and I’m momentarily distracted at how fucking sexy she is. I just want to—
My thoughts screech to a halt as a barrage of ice cold water suddenly drops from the air, soaking me from head to toe. The shock of it causes me to lose my breath. Holy shit, that’s freezing! When my brain reboots, I jump off of the bed and stare at the ceiling wondering what the hell just happened! Shaylee is still lying on the bed, staring at me, her mouth forming a little “o” of surprise. It takes me a second to realize that she is completely dry. I feel my eyes narrow in suspicion. Did she—damn, I’m pretty sure she did.
“What were you thinking, Shaylee?” I ask curiously.
“I—I was thinking—um,” She stutters. “I was thinking that you needed to cool off.”
At her words, I burst out laughing. I laugh so hard that tears leak from the corners of my eyes. When I finally calm down, I notice Shaylee is glaring at me as she puts her t-shirt back on. I can’t help but be disappointed to see her cover up. Damn, she is gorgeous. A shiver runs down my body, and only partly because I’m soaking wet.
“You want to let me in on the joke, Aden?” She’s glowering at me and I realize that she thinks I was playing with her.
“Baby, I told you we have magic.” I shake my head ruefully, but am still chuckling. “I haven’t taught you how to use them yet, but they are there. You wanted me to cool off, so you doused me in freezing water.” Honestly, it’s not something I’ve seen before. When someone is newly marked, their magic makes small appearances, but usually in very small ways, like turning on a light bulb; simple things. For her to soak me, and keep herself completely dry . . . it’s impressive. She’s already using her ability to shield, albeit unknowingly.
Her face is filled with disbelief. “No way did I do that. Stop messing with me, Aden.” She stands up and puts her hands on her hips, scowling at me. “And, stop calling me baby. ”
“I swear; it wasn’t me. You think I would do this to myself?” I meet her intense stare before adding, “And, no.”

NO WAY. NO FREAKING way did I just conjure ice water from thin air and drop it on Aden. My mind is rejecting the thought, but the truth is fighting to overcome the disbelief. I don’t want to admit that I felt a rush as the water fell, like a heated summer wind blew through my body. Just as I don’t want to admit that if Aden hadn’t spoken those words, I probably would have given in to the overwhelming desire for him—wait—words. My mind halts and then rewinds to something he just said.
    “What do you mean ‘no’?”
