Krystal was relieved Troy had asked her to sit with him at the CEO’s farewell dinner since neither of them had a current significant other.
At least everyone would be looking at his handsome face instead of sneering at her twenty-pound-overweight pudginess inadequately hidden under a flowing new dress of deep burgundy. He was always friendly and interested in whatever she was doing, so at least she would have someone to talk to through what promised to be a deathly boring event.
She sighed as yet another manager moved to the microphone to speak about how
wonderful the retiring CEO had been. Her mind wandered to her seatmate again. Troy. Six feet of muscled, tanned yummyness. Light brown hair curling on his collar. Deep brown eyes the color of rich, dark chocolate. And a kind heart and deep concern for his fellow workers. He was always the first to contribute to flowers or gifts for anyone. Always willing to listen to her when her life got messy—which it seemed to do with monotonous regularity. A genuine all-round nice man. If they didn’t work for the same company she would have willingly jumped into bed with him almost the day they met. But she valued his friendship too much to lose it due to scratching an itch.
