Lucy to come inside the room to
the bed.  “Good morning Lucy, this is my granddaughter Reggie.”
Lucy smiled at the little girl as she sat down.  She had
long dark curly hair and pretty hazel eyes.  She blinked a few times and Lucy
noticed how thick her eyelashes were.  She had dark eyebrows and a cute little
bow mouth.
“It’s nice to meet you Reggie.”  Lucy said to her, glancing
at Stan.  She noticed how happy Stan looked today.  He really looked good.
Reggie bounced off the edge of the bed and twirled in front
of Lucy.  “Do you like my dress Lucy?”
“Yes I do, it’s beautiful, but not as pretty as you are.”
Lucy was rewarded with a big grin from her.  She rushed up to Jeff and twirled
for him too, laughing as he took her hand and twirled her faster, like a
dancer.  Lucy smiled at her; she was already well practiced at getting male
attention.  Oh boy, they were going to have their hands full with her.
“Reggie has been at her other grandparents’ house and now
she is back with us.”  Stan said.  He smiled when Reggie climbed back on the
bed to kiss his cheeks, holding his face still with her small hands.  Stan
looked at Lucy thoughtfully for a few seconds.  “Have you seen the garden or
the stables yet Lucy?”
    “No, no yet.”
“Reggie would you like to give Lucy a tour of the garden and
the stables?”
“Yes, papa,” Reggie slid off the bed and reached out her
small hand to take Lucy’s, anxious to leave.
“You’re sure you don’t need anything Stan?”  Lucy smiled
when he shook his head no. “Ok then, I’ll come see you a little later.  Bye
Jeff.”  Lucy watched as Reggie gave a Jeff a little wave as she tugged her from
the room.
    “How old are you Reggie?”
“I’m four years old.”  Reggie said proudly, holding up the
same number of fingers on one hand.
Reggie was a wealth of information as she took Lucy through
the house.  She showed her some of the other rooms downstairs.  She pressed a
finger to her lips as they tip toed past a set of double doors.  She explained
that it was Dean’s study and John said to be quiet when she went past that
room.  Lucy liked the sun room the best, it had windows all around and looked
out over the garden.  There was a set of doors that led out to the side of the
garden.  She figured that Reggie would take her out that way, but she had more
to show her.  Lucy looked out the windows wistfully; she couldn’t wait to see
the garden.  A few minutes later they stopped in the kitchen for a little
breakfast.  Stella smiled at Reggie as she lifted her onto a stool by a long
island, and then she set a cup of coffee in front of Lucy.
“Oh, Stella, I love you.”  Lucy said as she lifted the cup
to her lips, she returned Stella’s grin as she set the cup back down.
“Cook made you pancakes this morning princess.”  Stella said
and was rewarded with a big grin from Reggie.  “How about you Lucy, what would
you like for breakfast?”
“Oh…I think pancakes sound perfect, maybe with a little
fruit on them?”  Lucy replied.
“I think we can do that.”  Stella smiled as she smoothed a
few curls off Reggie’s forehead and gave her a kiss.  The child was talking
non-stop; she had never opened up to a stranger like this before.  Lucy was the
first person that Reggie had spoken to, well other than family or staff.
Stella had a feeling that Lucy was going to be good for all of them.  “So where
are you two off to?”
“Papa wants Lucy to see the garden and the horses.”
Reggie’s face lit up with excitement as she turned to Lucy.  “Lucy do you like
puppies?”
“Oh… I love puppies.”  Lucy grinned at her.  What a sweet
little girl.  She smiled when she looked up at John and Stella as they watched
them eat breakfast. “What are you going to show me first?”
“The garden,” Reggie nodded at Stella when she smiled at
her.  “It’s my favoritist place.”
    “Okay then… lead the
