mineâs moving,â Plankton observed.
âMine too!â SpongeBob added.
âThis doesnât seem right,â Plankton said. âShould we call Bubbles?â
âLetâs give him a minute. Heâs been holding it for ten thousand years.â
BOOM!
The two planets crashed into each other and exploded! Little pieces of the planets fell all around Plankton and SpongeBob. âIâm pretty sure THAT wasnât supposed to happen!â SpongeBob gasped. âCâmon, Plankton! Weâve gotta clean this up before Bubbles getsback!â He tried to sweep the debris under the carpet with a broom.
Bubbles came back. âAh, much better, yes,â he said, smiling. âYou two are free to goâ¦.â But then he noticed the dirt and pebbles on the floor. He also noticed SpongeBobâs broom. âWhat have you done?â He looked up in the sky. âWhat happened to Saturn and Jupiter? You were supposed to keep them from smashing into each other!â
âSorry!â SpongeBob said.
âNow Iâm going to lose my job!â Bubbles cried. He stared at SpongeBob and Plankton. âAnd YOU will lose your LIVES!â
Bubbles fired lasers at SpongeBob and Plankton!
ZAP! ZAP!
They turned and ran away, screaming. They headed for the time machine.
âQuarter me!â SpongeBob yelled. Plankton tossed him a quarter, but SpongeBob missed it! It landed near the time machine.
SpongeBob and Plankton dove into the machine. SpongeBob reached out, snatched the quarter, and dropped it into the slot.
VRROOM! WHIRR!
Inside the time machine, Plankton said, âOkay, so the RED button wasnât right, eitherâ¦.â
âLetâs be scientific about this!â SpongeBob said. He stared at the complicated control panel. âEeny, meeny, miney, mo!â
He pushed a button.
VRRRRROOOOMMM!
Back in the not-very-distant past, Past SpongeBob walked into Mr. Krabsâs office. He gasped when he saw the open safe. âPlankton?â he said.
Past Plankton heard SpongeBob and turned around, knocking over the fake formula bottle with the real formula bottle. âSpongeBob!â he cried.
FLASH!
The time machine appeared in a burst of light, distracting Past Plankton and Past SpongeBob.
Plankton stepped out of the time machine.
âPlankton?â asked Past SpongeBob, confused.
SpongeBob stepped out of the time machine.
âSpongeBob?â asked Past Plankton, equally confused. âWho are you two supposed to be?â
âIâm you, from the future,â Plankton explained.
SpongeBob pointed toward his past self with his thumb. âAnd Iâm HIM, from the future.â
âSo you traveled back through time to help me?â Past Plankton asked. âGreat thinking!â
SpongeBob shook his head. âNope,â he said. âHeâs helping ME!â
âBut heâs the enemy!â Past SpongeBob gasped.
âWAS the enemy!â SpongeBob corrected. âNow weâre a TEAM!â
âA what?â Past Plankton asked. âA
tee-am
?â
âA TEAM!â Plankton corrected him. He turned to SpongeBob. âAll right. Go get the formula!â
âAll right, Plankton!â his teammate answered. SpongeBob ran toward the safe.
Past SpongeBob couldnât believe what he was seeing. âWhat have I become?â he asked.
A s SpongeBob groped in the safe, trying to take the bottle with the secret formula from Past Plankton, his past self talked to Plankton.
âDo you have flying boatmobiles in the future?â he asked.
âWe only came back from the day after tomorrow, nitwit,â Plankton said scornfully.
âDid they outlaw clothes in the future?â Past SpongeBob asked.
âNo!â Plankton snapped.
âThen why are you naked?â
âBecause they donât make clothes in my size,â Plankton explained.
SpongeBob kept trying to grab Past Plankton, but Past
