night?”
“Mark has this ridiculous sounding bike now. I have a heart attack every time he goes out.” Sophie walked to the front door and looked out. She yelled back into the living room. “Pigs on hogs. Mark and Kevin are here.”
“Team up. The party can officially start. The real men are here.” Mark chuckled as he walked into the living room. Sophie loved game night and went all out. “What is the game of choice tonight?”
Sophie beamed at her husband. “I know you all hate Pictionary, even though it’s my favorite. I bought us Buzz Word. Let’s break into teams of three. Steve’s pulling in now.”
“I got Andi.” Ryan smiled down at her.
“We running short of chairs or something?” Kevin gave Ryan the death stare when he saw Andi in his lap.
Andi rolled her eyes. “Shut it, trio. It’s the best action I’ve had in months.”
Ryan chuckled when he saw the horror on Caleb’s face. “This is priceless.” He leaned down and whispered in Andi’s ear. “Your brother is going to stroke out.”
“If you weren’t so frigid, you’d have men dropping at your feet, doll. Not everyone is man enough to handle the frost bite.”
“You’re right. It would take a real man. Know any?”
Kevin smirked at her and she ground her teeth. “None that you could handle.”
“Jesus.” Caleb stood up to walk to the kitchen. He knew that any minute they would fall into each other’s arms and he didn’t know how he would handle it.
The front door slammed against the wall and Steve came tearing in. Rage was written all over his body and he was heading toward Mark. Ryan was out of his seat before Andi could process that she was falling. Mark stood and made no attempt to stop him. He knew what was coming and he felt it was due.
“You son of a bitch.” Steve fisted his hand and let it fly. Mark stumbled back with the force of the punch.
Kevin launched himself in front of Mark to stop any further hits. Ryan grabbed Steve and after a couple deep breaths by everyone, Mark put his hand out to shake Steve’s. Steve shrugged Ryan off and shook Mark’s hand. Everyone was on their feet, mouths agape.
“I assume we don’t need that chat anymore?” Mark wiped the blood from his lip.
“No. She told me what I needed to know.” Steve sat down next to Andi and grabbed her hand. “Thank you for offering to come over here with me. I just needed to know if she would tell me the truth.”
“Any time. I’m here if you need me.” Andi hugged him.
Kevin ’s desire to pound his chest and drag her out by her hair was overwhelming. And it didn’t help that her white tank top was a little too tight and her jeans skirt was a little too short. He could picture what was under the lace of her bra. He imagined what she was wearing under her skirt. Would it match the lace of the top? Could he tear it off and bury himself in her before she began to cry out his name in pleasure. His desire stirred, causing his jeans to tighten. Catching his stare, her nipples puckered under her tank and she crossed her arms over her chest.
“You alright, Moretti?” Caleb handed him a napkin.
“Good. Let’s play.” Mark sat at the end of the table with Sophie in his lap. They claimed Lily as their third player and were ready. Ryan picked Andi up and set her back in his lap before claiming Steve so he could ‘keep an eye on him’. Jena hugged Kevin and sat between him and Caleb.
The cheering and laughing was deafening. Andi couldn’t help but smile. Kevin was standing behind Mark, ready to buzz him if he gave a clue that was forbidden. His eyes would lock with hers and her temperature would spike. The battle had been waged and she was going to lose. She knew it as surely as she knew her body would continue to breathe. The tension between them was out of hand and it was time to set it
