enough to fit in anywhere, but the stylish and classic design of the knock-off Manolo Blahniks set off the suit perfectly.
The suit fit her so well that she couldn’t believe she had purchased it off the rack. It followed the curve of her backside, giving an impression of the smooth, roundness beneath without drawing too much attention for a business setting. The blouse looked great after she heated it with an iron, and the scarf seemed to intensify the shine in her hair. She had chosen to wear her hair down, but smoothed it out for a professional look.
She wished her earrings were real stones, but at least they were of decent quality. A person would have to look at them with a magnifying glass to know that they weren’t real diamonds. She had butterflies in her stomach as she grabbed yet another knock-off; her Burberry-like purse. She was saving up for a real one, but it seemed that the day would never come.
Justin and Chantelle had arranged to meet at a coffee shop near his penthouse. He didn’t want her to see his home because she would realize that Sam was not the one with a fortune. She walked in to find him already seated at a table, nervously playing with a spoon and ignoring his cup of coffee. Chantelle couldn’t stop the leap she felt inside when she saw his face. During their separation, she had often wondered if her memories were making her feel more for this man because she had exaggerated his good looks in her mind, but as he stood, she realized that he was even more attractive than she remembered.
Justin was dressed in a simple, but well cut suit of fine fabric. She knew clothes and if she hadn’t been so distracted by his face, she would have realized that this suit was not cheap. His hair was carefully groomed, but it still had a bit of a windblown look about it.
His blond hair caught the light and looked almost golden. She had forgotten how tall he was. She looked up at him and had to hold back from reaching out for his broad chest.
Every part of her wanted to lean into his body and feel him against her, but the thing that made her lose her train of thought was the blue of his eyes. In this light, his eyes took on several shades of blue. She caught flecks of gold and green around the edges and found herself unable to speak.
Justin could have solved the problem by being the first to begin a conversation, but this gorgeous woman had stopped him in his own tracks. She looked so fresh and smelled almost edible. His hands wanted her. He wanted to run his hands down her back and to cup her flesh and draw her body up to his own. He literally shook off his feelings and worried that she would see his stiffness outlined beneath his suit.
At the same moment, they came to their senses. “It’s great to see you, Chantelle. You look fantastic.” His eyes ran down her body and he found himself unable to speak again for a moment, but once he had broken the silence between them, Chantelle found her voice.
“Thank you for taking care of this trip, Justin. It was very comfortable and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness.” She grinned and lifted one eyebrow. “I must say, I was a little shocked to get a first class ticket. Did you rob a bank or is Sam playing at being a travel agent?”
It took a moment for Justin to remember that not everybody flew first class on a long flight. Even with his friends, Justin had paid for an upgrade and he had never flown coach in his life. He had actually felt a little guilty for putting her on a commercial airline rather than having her flown in his private jet, but he quickly remembered the act he had to put on concerning his lack of substantial money.
“Oh, right. Well, something like that.” He fumbled in his breast pocket and took out his wallet. “We should go. I know we have time before the appointment, but sometimes getting around can take a long time.” If he was going to keep up this ruse of having limited funds, he needed to take normal methods of travel
