Helen had a compound fracture on her arm but her hip was just bruised. She been fitted with a temporary cast and she needed to return on Monday for more x-rays. Phil was gently wrapping a sling around her arm. She was supposed to wait for the nurse but Phil insisted that finally he could do something useful for her and she was glad he was still here. He stopped her thinking of Alan and he seemed to know when she was because he started asking her questions and distracting her thoughts from Alan and the hurt she felt inside.
“Helen thank god I been looking everywhere for you. Are you o.k. baby?” Alan looking worried as he enters the room and he looks at Phil.
“ Thanks, mate I got her from here if you finished” and Phil shrugging his annoyance at Alan rudeness
“If you o.k. to go with him Helen ? I will ring you if I hear from the police. I got your number from your form”
“I’m o.k. thanks Phil but I’m not sure I want to leave with Alan, could you phone home for me? I just want to go home” she says quietly and she sees Phil’s face brighten
“I get the car Helen have you got Helen keys ?” and holding his hand out to Alan
“ Piss of mate I need to talk to Helen” Alan hisses at Phil
“ Look Alan I’m tired and I just want to go home” but he not listening to her, and he looks like he snarling at Phil
“ Sorry Phil I think I need to get this over with” and slowly standing up
“ Are you sure? I will take you home if you like me to, I’m not scared of this two timing prick” he sounds disappointed and angry that she going with Alan but she needs to get this over with
“I think it for the best . I’m sorry you got mixed up in this and thanks for your help” and she lets Alan lead her out of the hospital. She feels exhausted, Alan tries to put his arms around her but she shakes him off.
“ Don’t Alan, don’t you ever touch me again”
“I’m sorry Ali came round and I lost track of time, we need to talk when we get home. I’m sorry the nightclub said what happened. Whose coat you got on?”
“ Oh, it Phil’s could you take it back for me?”
“ Give it here, here have mine” and swapping jackets as she reaches Alan car
“ In you go Helen and I will not be long baby” he says sweetly, he thinks he forgiven and it makes her anger and hurt flare as he walks back into the hospital. She feels tired as she waits for him and tears flowing down her cheeks and heaving sobs shake her body as exhaustion takes over her.
The pain in her arm wakes her as he lifts her out of his car.
“Put me down Alan I can walk just fine” she says angrily and he puts her down. Helen notices the sun coming up as she walks to his flat. It feels like forever since she been here but how could he say he loves her and sleep with Ali she knew he had, the guilt was written all over his face.
“I need to phone Lynne to see if she got home o.k.” and she storms into his flat
“No need, I saw her outside the nightclub. Bill was with her. Lynne must have called him from the club. She said the club got your bag”
“ Do you know if they searched it?”
“No why ? Shit Helen did you take any drugs?” anger blaring in his face
“NO Lynne gave me something and I put it in my bag. I’m so tired Alan let not fight tonight” and going over to his bed but the sheets were all ruffled. And she crumbles to the floor. He puts his arms around her and she cries on his shoulder the pain inside more profound than the pain in her arm. In the short time she knew Alan she had fell completely in love with him.
“Helen I’m sorry , god she came over after I picked your car up and shit she undressed and you know” she
