them actually laughed. Shaun said, “I get what you’re saying. It will be interesting to see what other people say once we try the blood bag trick.”
Aslin said, “Right, but we get this shit first today. We also need to go put some time into checking out the other camp. It seems they’re pretty oblivious to us being out here if we hadn’t heard from them in almost a year. I’m pretty sure though that your machine gun and clothing is more than enough for any idiot to know where you were staying. If they radioed home they know where to start looking. I can only imagine they weren’t too happy about what happened to their group.”
“Well, if they wouldn’t have messed with my business there’d never have been any issues. Let’s go get your swag while we have time for it. If we wait too much longer it’s going to be dark by the time we get back, and then we have an entirely new thing to have to deal with.”
Aslin turned the truck over and they pulled out letting McQuaig go first. Aslin said, “Does she know where she is going?”
Shaun nodded, “Yeah, they’re from around here, so they know where they’re going, no worries.”

Hammond sat nervously in the Humvee. “You guys think we will see anything?”
Greg watched intently, ready to throw open the door to the gun mounted on top. “How the hell would I know, Hammond? Maybe, sure, no? I have no idea. Considering most of the population has turned into one of those things, I’d say yes, overall there's a pretty strong chance. I mean, considering we’ve focused on one street in all of Iowa to take out the Turned, and probably ninety percent of those kills were Fox, yes there’s a great chance we’re going to find some dead roaming and happy to kill us.”
Hammond looked to McQuaig asking, “He’s just screwing with me, right?”
“I would say yes, but what he’s saying kind of makes sense. Does it make me any more comfortable going out? Hell no. Now keep your eyes out, they can be anywhere. We get spoiled having the fence surrounding us at all times.”
When they got within a few hundred yards of the store the dead were standing there looking almost lethargic. McQuaig was leading the two and held a fist out of her window to stop. Greg opened the hatch to take the machine gun spot. Aslin was already yelling not to shoot before Greg had the opportunity to take aim. He looked around seeing Shaun and Aslin walking with the silenced high-powered rifles. Aslin said, “Let Shaun and I get some practice with these. I want to see what they can do with a little room to stretch their legs.”
Greg knowing they did asked, “Can they shoot that far? I mean...I know you are getting kinda old, Aslin, can you see that far?”
“Greg, have I ever told you about my kids?”
“I thought you didn’t have kids, Aslin.”
“You know I don’t, Greg, but if I did have a little one, a child that was the apple of my eye, if I had that one request, then I’d like them to be absolutely nothing like you.”
Aslin set down the rifle on the Humvee’s hood extending the bipod. He took a moment to aim before what sounded like a cap gun went off. Greg was just on the verge of saying something smart when one of the closest Turned’s head exploded on the side and it’s brains hit the dead standing next to it. The Turned came out of their daze and began peering around. They knew something was wrong but were unsure where it was coming from. Aslin picked off one after another until the parking lot was cleared. When he was halfway through the dead Shaun noticed that they were done looking around. One of the Turned screamed louder than the rest and they ran off in a pack into the meadow surrounding it and out of sight.
Shaun said, “I’m sorry, but did you guys see that?”
“Yeah, I sure as hell did, Shaun,” Greg said. “Aslin just handed them a big ol’ can of whoop ass. I think I love that suppressor. He needs to get those for machine guns, if he
