laid out, she went into her bedroom and pulled out her cell.
When she turned it on, it had such a low battery that she needed to charge it. So she turned it back off and put it on the charger. She was exhausted and didn’t want to be disturbed in the night. She would go into her secret room and send an encrypted email.
When she brought up her email program, she saw over three hundred emails in her inbox. She was too tired to go through them now, she’d been up for forty hours, instead of shopping after her meeting with Braden, she’d come back here and go through them all.
Chapter 4
Quin and Jaden sat at the table in the conference room talking together before the meeting; Cami was due any moment to discuss what Cloe had said. They had to talk to the New Council about the challenge that loomed over their heads tomorrow. Quin had just been to his check up with Cloe. She had explained everything to him and Jaden.
Cami was with the children this morning, working with Lagon and the rest of the babies because some interesting things had been happening since they had met Lagon. Cami had argued with them about wanting to be at the doctor’s appointment, but there had been no other time to have it. They were going to talk to her before the rest arrived.
“She’s not going to be happy about this, mon Coeur,” Jaden said and laughed before sitting back.
“Yes I know,” Quin said and ran his hand over his face, “how about you?”
“I am too, but I understand what she said. Tonight we’ll go over your plan of attack. It needs to be quick; you can’t give him an inch. If it even looks like you’re having problems, Darien and Blaine will have a hard time holding me back. That little putain is not going to win.”
Quin smiled and leaned over and kissed his mate gently. “He won’t.”
“Hey, you’re totally not supposed to be doing that without me sitting in a nice comfy chair to watch.” Cami teased from the doorway and walked into the room. She wiggled her eyebrows and locked the door before coming and sitting on the table in between them. “Information first, what did Cloe say?”
Quin shifted and looked at his little female Alpha. Jaden and he loved her more than they could ever tell her. It was an amazing feeling to have the connection they shared.
To think, for even one moment, that it could be lost enraged him.
“Cloe said that my ribs are fully healed but still weak. The rest of me has repaired and is looking good. She said that tomorrow I have to watch my right side, if he hits me in the right place it could cause the ribs to break again,” Quin said and took her hand as she nodded.
“Sooooo, how are you gonna attack? I mean I assume you have a plan,” she said quietly.
She knew Quin was strong and fast. If he had not been injured in the blast, this would be a cake walk. As it was, they all knew that Braden somehow had his hand in all of this; they could not tell what his plan was though. No matter how many people they called to find out, none of them had heard a word from the Rogues. It was not a good thing, which meant he was keeping his cards close to his chest.
“Jaden and I were going to go over it tonight. There’s no other way to do this; I have to take him hard and fast. I know that you are going to argue, but promise me that you will not jump in,” Quin said warily.
Cami snapped her mouth shut and pulled her hand from his and stood up. “What you mean is you don’t want me to see you kill someone. I realize in the shifter world things are different and that I’m still new to all of this, but being an Alpha wolf I have to tell you this whole thing is just pissing me off! Michael is no match for you. My wolf knows I could take him. She has been pushing me for days to take him out before the challenge even happens. I have distracted her with the opening of my new book store in town, but that will only last for so long.”
Quin sighed and put down his head. “I know, but you
