âAnytime,â she said as she flipped over.
âCome on,â I told Sheridan. âIâm going to go change and then we can go look for this girl. And when I find her, Iâm going to give her a piece of my mind for messing up my vacation like this.â
â If we find her,â Sheridan said.
âWill you stop being so negative? Weâre going to find her, and when we find her, Iâm going to cuss her little slutty behind out.â
I put my shades on and sashayed toward the elevator, hoping that this didnât take too long so I could come back and relax by the pool.
Chapter 9
T his was not the way I had planned to spend my day.
âWhich one is it?â Sheridan said.
I could tell she was irritated, but shoot, so was I. âI donât know,â I said, looking at the two hotels. âI just remember itâs one of these. I canât remember the name, but he said he was staying at the hotel on the corner of Eldorado and Caprica. So weâll just check both hotels.â
âLike theyâre really going to give you information on a hotel guest,â she said, jumping out of the way just as a bicyclist almost ran her over.
âGirl, this is Cancun, they donât have the same kind of regulations.â
âThis is ridiculous,â she muttered.
âYouâre the one that insisted we do this, so come on!â I said, pulling her toward the first hotel. We went inside and I marched straight up to the front desk. âHi, Iâm looking for a Carson Wells.â
âDo you know what room heâs in?â the clerk asked, as she began tapping some keys on her computer.
âNo, I donât,â I said. âCan you just look and see if you have a guest by that name?â
The front desk clerk continued tapping away on the computer, and I gave Sheridan the eye to say, See, I told you.
âIâm sorry, we donât have a guest here by that name,â the clerk said.
I frowned. âAre you sure?â
âIâm positive.â
I hesitated, thinking, then said, âOkay, are the kids from Fulton County in Atlanta here?â
âNo, we donât have any of the spring breakers here,â the woman said. âWe were booked for a technology conference.â
âOkay. Thank you,â I said, grabbing Sheridanâs hand and making my way back out. âLetâs go across the street and check out the other hotel. It has to be that one.â
Sheridan reluctantly followed me and we repeated the scenario. I stood at the desk as the clerk tapped away. âSorry, we donât have a Carson Wells here.â
âWhat?â I said. âNo, but he has to be here. This has to be the hotel.â I looked around. âThe one where he said he was staying. Is this where Fulton County students are, the kids from Atlanta?â
The woman clicked again. âYep.â
âWell, then, there.â I tapped her computer. âCarson Wells, check again.â
âIâm sorry, but we donât have anybody here by that name.â She pointed to a tall, lanky man standing at the end of the counter. âTalk to that guy. Heâs one of the chaperones for the trip for students from Fulton County.â
âThank you,â I said, quickly making my way down to the edge of the counter.
I tapped him on the shoulder. âExcuse me, sir.â
âYes, maâam, how may I help you?â the man said, turning toward me.
âYeah, Iâm trying to find one of your students. You are from Fulton County, arenât you?â
The man nodded. âYes.â
âWell, I need to get in touch with one of your students.â
He let out a loud sigh. You could tell the students had been working his nerves. âWho is it, and what did they do now?â
âOh, no. Itâs not that at all,â I said. âI just need to talk to him. Itâs very important.â
âWell, who
