Liam out of Daniel’s affections? He was sure of Daniel’s love, but would his dominant impulses override that love, bringing him closer to Alex as her Master than he was as Liam’s sub? The relationship between a Dom and his sub was a powerful one, more powerful than any vanilla relationship Liam knew of. How would the dynamics shift now that Alex was with them fulltime? Was the relationship between the three doomed on its face to fail?
He shook away these thoughts as unworthy of himself and Daniel. Alex was a fun addition to their sex life, nothing more. They’d already hashed out these issues and agreed they could handle it. Why was he still obsessing? He quashed his worries.
Still, wouldn’t it be fun to stay home and watch Daniel put her through her paces? Mentally he shook his head. Ever the responsible one, he knew he wouldn’t do it—he wouldn’t let his client down that way. Forcing himself to be a grown-up, he said lightly, “I’ll see you two tonight. Be good,” and walked out the door.

Chapter 5
“Excuse me, Daniel. I, um…I need to pee.”
Daniel, distracted with blending the egg yolks into the cheesecake batter, didn’t turn around. “You’ll have to wait. I need to get this in the oven now if it’s going to be ready in time for dessert. Go back to your chores. I’ll come find you in a minute.”
He folded in the heavy cream and bit of orange peel, dipped his finger into the batter and tasted it. Perfect. He was just pouring the mixture onto the shortbread crust he’d made in advance when his cell phone rang.
Since he was often naked or nearly so during the summer months in Liam’s house, Daniel had taken to keeping his phone on the kitchen counter beside the house phone. He put down the mixing bowl, wiped his hands on the back of his shorts and reached for the ringing phone.
    “Daniel Spencer.”
“Hey, Dan, it’s Scott. How are you?”
Daniel swallowed his retort that his name wasn’t Dan. He didn’t like nicknames. He’d mentioned this several times to Scott, who had ignored him, so he just let it go.
Scott Jordan had purchased Daniel’s landscaping business six months before at a substantial profit to Daniel. As part of the agreement, Daniel remained on the books as a consultant, offering his expertise and connections in the business on some of the larger projects Scott brought in.
Since the age of sixteen he’d been involved in landscaping, which had started as an after-school job and moved to fulltime when he finished high school. He had deeply disappointed his parents with his decision not to attend college, ignoring his father’s dire warnings he’d end up working in a fast-food restaurant for the rest of his life.
Instead he ended up buying the business when the owner suddenly died and his widow wanted out from under. Even when Daniel owned the company and employed sometimes as many as twenty men he was always hands-on on every major project.
He loved working with the earth, clearing away entangled growth and weeds and planting beautiful things in their place. His strong suit turned out to be his eye for design. He could look at an undeveloped piece of land and envision the transformation to something special and then make it happen. It was this that made his small company stand out and why they kept his name on the business and kept him on as consultant once he sold it.
    “Hey, Scott. How’s it going?”
“Going great. We have more business than we can handle. I’m thinking of adding two more fulltime guys. That’s why I’m calling, actually. We just got a big project and it’s right in your neck of the woods. Some muckety-muck from the city bought himself a six-million-dollar beachfront villa in Westport and his wife doesn’t like the landscaping that’s there now. She wants to tear up the place and give it her own unique stamp, her words. That’s where you come in, buddy. I’d appreciate it if you could meet with her, get a better idea of what it
