us.”
“Thank you, Mrs. MacMillan,” Gracie said, seeming to relax a little. She even managed a smile in what had to be a terribly uncomfortable moment for her.
“Call me Peaches, please. I believe you know everyone here.” Gracie nodded, glancing behind Peaches to the three men flanking her. They nodded in greeting. She smiled weakly. “Good. Now, why don’t we all go out on the patio? The food is about ready.”
Cherry was grateful to her sister for defusing the tense situation. Logan, Damien, and Ryan all relaxed, though they were still watching Mick, Collin, Cody, and Jake with a wary eye. She could imagine that if they did one thing wrong they would be going home bloodied and bruised.
Instead of turning into a shrieking shrew, Cherry decided to take a wait-and-see attitude. She would follow her sister’s lead, welcoming the other woman, being friendly. What if Gracie’s presence was as innocent as they claimed? A woman alone out in the middle of nowhere with a broken-down car was not a good thing. Though she had no personal knowledge of the crime rate in and around Silver, she knew there were bad people everywhere.
But there was the way the men were looking at Gracie from time to time, the speculative glances, which also came her way. It took a while, but Cherry finally figured it out. The men were drawn to Gracie and they were wondering if the six of them could explore the possibility of being together.
Cherry trembled, suddenly feeling more than a little light-headed. Since it wouldn’t look good to fall face-first into her plate, she quietly excused herself to go to the suite, aware concerned gazes followed her. As she closed herself in the bathroom, she leaned against the granite counter and stared at herself in the mirror.
There was a flush across her cheeks and her eyes seemed to hold both confusion and excitement. Was she actually thinking about this? How could she? Really? Nothing had been said. None of the men had even touched Gracie after she had been introduced to her. Could she be reading everything all wrong?
No, Cherry knew she had seen flashes of desire in those men’s gray eyes. They had a desire for her and desire for Gracie.
Why did they want another woman?
They want another woman because they’re lonely and horny. She had believed them when they told her they would wait. But now that she was here it was like some switch had been flipped. They were all healthy young men. They had waited three years for her to get well.
But this? If the brothers really were considering bringing this woman into their relationship, could she deal with it? Was it something she could want?
Cherry had to admit Gracie was a sexy little thing. Petite, shapely, Gracie was hot. She could see what the men saw. And she had to admit to feeling a spark of desire deep inside her. Having a sexual relationship with a woman was nothing new to her. She’d had several of them over the years. She was definitely bi, having decided long ago that what sex she was attracted to wasn’t as important as the person she was attracted to.
A sudden, unexpected smile curved her mouth. She stared at it as she felt something else. Mischief stirred. Oh yeah, she was going to have some fun with this, Cherry thought as she returned to the patio and the table surrounded by concerned people.
But only after she got Gracie alone and had a talk with her.
It wasn’t as easy as Cherry thought it might be. Gracie was definitely staying close to the men, as if feeling secure with them in unfamiliar surroundings. She kept eyeing Cherry warily, but with a glimmer of interest which gave Cherry hope. It was sexual interest. There was no mistaking it.
When they moved as a group to the seating area at the opposite end of the large flagstone patio to enjoy the late afternoon, Cherry took the opportunity to snag Gracie. Catching the woman by the hand, she led her across the lawn toward the corral.
What she saw as she glanced over her shoulder
