don’t understand it, you are both
single and enjoy each other’s company why can you not continue your affair in
London?’
‘Because I have just come out of a long
term relationship and need some time to rediscover myself. Somewhere along the
line Scott sucked all the life out of me’
‘I know’ she utters quietly ‘just seems a
shame’
‘Hmmm’ I murmur.  Grant had never actually requested
to see me again anyway it was just a given that what we experienced was a
holiday fling, ‘you know what they say….what happens in Vegas’ and I smile at
the memories.
    ‘Good?’ she raises an eyebrow.
‘You have no idea’ I exhale a breath.
‘I need a week with a Grant’ she whines and
I giggle.
‘Right let us get these boxes sorted’ I
instruct pushing Grant reluctantly to the back of my mind.
Six weeks later it is as if the past
eighteen months have never happened Bella and I have reverted back to our
routines and I am happy and optimistic for the future.  I hear nothing further
from Scott and for this I am grateful, our social circles couldn’t be further
away from each other so there was no chance of bumping into him.  Bella and I had
collected my belongings on the way back from the airport and I posted the keys
through his letterbox, end of an era.
I find my mind regularly drifting back to
Grant and each time my insides somersault and I experience an aching feeling
within, he will always remain my happy place.
‘There is a new club opening in Soho
Saturday, you want to be my plus one?’ Bella shouts out from her room.
‘Yeah sure, is it a prospective venue?’
Bella is an event’s organizer and regularly gets invited to openings of new
clubs to tempt her into suggesting the venues to clients.
‘Possibly, quite upmarket more of a wine
bar really’ she enters the room ‘we could do with a night out’ she murmurs.
‘What you mean last weekend wasn’t wild
enough for you?’ I cock an eyebrow ‘and a certain gentleman called Mike?’
Bella blushes ‘he is pretty incredible!’
she mumbles.
‘You seeing him again?  Why don’t you
invite him as your plus one?’ I suggest.
‘Because he will be attending anyway, it
was him that invited me he is the finance guy on the project’ she throws me a
sly smile.
‘Aw so not so much you fancy a night out
with your best pal then?’ I tease her.
‘Always’ she assures me with a smile ‘bit
of moral support maybe?’
‘Sure, it didn’t appear as if you required
any moral support Bella your tongue was so far down his tonsils….’
‘Abigail Stephens how crude’ she teases
giggling.
‘If I am wrong stop me’ I join in with the
laughter.
As we approach the club on Saturday evening
we are already two Mojitos down stopping for refreshments along the way.  I am
wearing one of Bella’s designer numbers which is light blue in color reaching
mid-thigh scooping low on the chest reveling my ample breasts and I have my
nude heels and clutch bag.  I have straightened my hair leaving it loose and
apply a liberal amount of black eyeliner sweeping it up from my upper lids, I
add mountains of mascara along with some nude lip gloss and I am ready for
action.  Bella has pushed the boat out and purchased a Lipsy dress which is
entirely backless but reaches high around her neck at the front, it also
reaches mid-thigh and sparkles as she walks, she has my red heels and clutch
bag to add color and pulled her blonde hair to a high ponytail.
‘Out to impress?’ I regard her stance as
she sashays towards the doorman at the club.
‘Oh yes’ she throws a red lipstick smile my
way ‘he is in trouble tonight!’
I laugh as the doorman greets us ‘good
evening ladies your names please?’  We give our names and are gestured through
to the impressive foyer.
‘Wow, this is stylish’ Bella is observing
all the details of the decoration ‘this would make a wicked venue’ she mumbles
as her eyes move around her surroundings.  A waitress
