Including Anthony, she'd only been intimate with a handful of guys in her life. She hoped like hell that her luck—as far as getting pregnant was concerned—had not run out this time.

CHAPTER NUMBER NINE
The next morning, Anthony picked up his cellphone and dialed the number to the security team that he'd hired to discreetly follow LaKeeta. His friend Sergeant Wilshire still didn't have a real break on the two assholes from the center. Until he did, Anthony was going to be vigilant in making sure that LaKeeta stayed safe.
He, of course hadn't told her that he had a security detail following her. He was pretty much sure that she would've been angry if he'd done that.
He smiled as he sat back in his chair, conjuring up an image of her pretty face. It was only a little after ten in the morning, so he wouldn't be seeing LaKeeta until her training session later on that evening. He hoped like hell that she would be saying yes to going out of town with him for the week.

Eight hours later, LaKeeta walked into Body Work Zone. She gave Jan at the front desk a smile.
“ Hi, Jan. How are you doing today?”
LaKeeta was surprised how the girl kept working at her computer monitor, pretending like she hadn't heard her greeting.
    LaKeeta frowned.
She decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. She tried it again. “Hi, Jan. How are you?”
    Still nothing.
LaKeeta shrugged her shoulders and scanned her barcoded membership card at the little machine on the counter. She made her way up to the aerobics room where she and Anthony were supposed to meet for her workout. She didn't know what Jan's problem was today, but she refused to let it worry her.
Jan watched LaKeeta's retreating back as the pretty brown-skinned girl made her way to the elevators. She wasn't sure of how she was going to do it just yet, but she was going to get LaKeeta Hunt's pretty little fingers the hell away from her man.

It wasn't until their workout session was over with that Anthony decided to mention something to LaKeeta about her decision. He was escorting her out to her car when he turned and said, “Well, LaKeeta. Have you decided on whether or not you're gonna go out of town with me for the week?”
LaKeeta frowned. “I don't think that'll be a good idea, Anthony.” She paused for a moment, then continued. “I don't have a problem with us staying in town and getting to know each other a little better.”
He nodded his head. He wouldn't press the issue. He didn't want to push her away. “Okay, LaKeeta. Maybe someday later, then.”
She smiled, relieved that he wasn't going to make it difficult.
“ Well, if you're not doing anything tomorrow, how about we just spend the day at the ranch? I promise you I'll have you back into the city by nightfall.”
That particular arrangement she could work with. “Pony ride included?”
He nodded his head. “Of course. It wouldn't be a complete day out at Paulson Place without it.”
LaKeeta nodded her head. After reading about what had happened to the woman who had been supposedly carrying his child, LaKeeta had felt the tiniest reservation about Anthony. Then almost immediately, her instincts had kicked in and told her that he wasn’t the type of person the tabloids had tried to paint him out to be. She trusted him.
She gave him a smile. “Okay, Anthony. You're on. I’ll go out to your ranch with you tomorrow.”
Anthony dipped his head and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. “Thank you.”
Two cars over, Jan couldn't erase the scowl that was etched on her face. She was sitting in her car, with her front windows down. She was smoking a cigarette on her evening break.
She brought her eyebrows together in anger. “He kissed her....he fucking kissed her!” she hissed under her breath. “That bitch is slobbing on his knob….I’m sure of it.”
