that he had a problem with me from the start. He probably thought I was getting what was coming to me like Dale had. Guys sucked! Leaning back in my seat I drew a trembling hand through my hair. Looking down at my injured hand I tried moving my fingers and groaned. There had to be possibly two broken fingers there. A wayward tear slipped down my cheek and I wiped it away angrily. It was only a little pain. I could handle that. It was the shock of the situation that was getting to me, shock and disappointment at the fallacies of people; although I don’t know why I was surprised about that, and I wasn’t going to have a breakdown because of it. It had been bad but I had protected myself…I was fine. I was used to handling things, if I didn’t everything would fall apart around me. Taking a few deep breaths to offset the pain and shock I looked at the clock on the dash. Ten-thirty p.m. Hell! It was still early. I started laughing but it began to breakup into hiccups and what could possibly end up as sobs so I took in more deep breaths. Once I was in control—though my limbs still felt weak and shaky—I put the car in gear and headed for the hospital. On the way I tried thinking up a lie on how I could have broken my hand. There was no way I could tell anyone the truth.
Chapter Four SETH
“What the hell is wrong with the fucking water?” I yelled stomping down the stairs. I was in a pair of sweats I’d thrown on after the water in the shower had gone from a jet stream to a light trickle. Landon and Evan walked out from the kitchen. “What are you yelling about?” Landon asked biting into some toast. I reached the bottom and headed for the basement door. “There’s something wrong with the water pressure. My shower cut off half way through.” Jerking open the basement door I stomped down the stairs and found out what was wrong. Water was spraying everywhere from a busted pipe in the floor joists and there was a nice size lake forming under it. Rushing down the steps and through the water shower that immediately soaked me I reached the valve and turned the water off. The gushing spray slowly diminished to drips. “This is fucking great.” I grumbled in irritation looking up at the dripping pipe. Landon and Evan had followed me down the stairs but had stayed by the steps and as a result they hadn’t gotten wet. “Looks like a broken pipe.” Evan pointed out needlessly. “You’re a genius.” I grumbled. “That’s common knowledge.” Evan shot back grinning. “Unbelievable!” I stared in shock at what I was seeing.” If my dad knew I’d been living in this house for three years and was just now finding out how bad the plumbing in this house was he’d kick my ass.” Landon and Seth stepped closer, but not too close, and looked up in confusion. “What?” They both said in unison. “Whoever did the plumbing in this house, or redid the plumbing in this house, used the most inexpensive materials they could find. It looks like someone went crazy at Dollar Store and hodge-podged it all together.” I said in disgust. “So we call a plumber, right?” Evan queried cluelessly.
I turned my disgusted look on him. “No, we need to call the landlord. It’s up to him what he wants to do. I can’t fucking believe this.” I grumbled stomping back up the stairs with Landon and Evan at my heels. “What? It should only take maybe an hour to fix a busted water pipe.” Landon said. I sighed. “Sure, but the plumbing in this house looks like it needs to be entirely replaced, and that could take a week or two depending on who does it.” “Whoa,” Landon
