Odyssey. I can show you later. If I show you now we won’t make it to the
beach.”
She swallowed. He saw her throat muscles move. “Okay.”
His mouth came down on her lips and she parted them for him.
Then his tongue thrust deep into her mouth and she moaned. Her palms pressed
into his shoulders then her arms wrapped around his neck. Remembering she
didn’t have underwear on didn’t help keep his arousal in check. How easy it
would be to slide his hands up and grab her buttocks, slip between her legs and
ease his fingers into her cunt or ass. Soon, very soon. Breaking the kiss, he
moved away from her. Her eyes looked dazed, hypnotic. How responsive she was.
“Ready?”
“Yes.” She let out a breath.
When they got down to the beach level, they stepped outside
onto a large terrace with a pool. The soft-blue light rippled under the water.
Palm trees swayed in a strong offshore breeze. “I love this spot at night.”
Adrian took in the scent of the salty sea air. He never got tired of the
magnificent view, never spent enough time enjoying it with his work schedule.
“Wow. My apartment has a nice pool but not a view like this.”
Beyond the terrace and the beach, waves broke and crashed up
onshore. “This area sold me on the apartment.” They took the stairs down to the
beach. Spotlights illuminated the dunes. She kicked off her sandals and propped
up the low beach chairs while Adrian poured wine.
He grew silent and studied her for a long time and she
avoided his gaze. “If you didn’t have a crazy surgeon’s schedule, what would
you enjoy doing in your free time?”
“If I’m on staff, I’ll have more free time. I hear you have
a bucket list. Cynthia told me.” He poured more wine in her glass. “Did you do
all these adventures alone or were you dating someone at the time? Married?”
“Dating. Never married.” She swirled the wine in her glass,
not drinking.
    “Not dating him now?”
    She shook her head.
“Mind if I ask what happened?” he asked with a gentle tone,
not pushy.
She stared out at the ocean. “He was killed in a motorcycle
accident.”
“I’m sorry.” He took her hand. “And I’m sorry to make you
remember.”
“Thank you. It’s been a year.” She took a breath and smiled,
although it was obviously a sad attempt. He could kick himself for reminding
her of the pain.
    “And you. Married before?”
    He shook his head.
“And what happened with your last girlfriend?”
His eyebrows rose and his hand rubbed across his mouth. “It’s
a bit of a long story. Easiest way to explain it was an incompatibility issue.”
“I’ve dated a few guys like that. But I called them psycho.”
He laughed. “Hmmm. That could fit in her case I’m afraid.
She made a scene at the hospital in front of the hospital administrator. It
took some explaining. I was afraid I was going to get fired.”
“Reputation means a lot in your position.” Emma cringed.
“Yes, it does when your boss is like mine.”
The conversation turned to other areas of interest and Emma
seemed to steer clear of any mention of her work whenever he tried to bring it
up . One moment they seemed to be connecting and the next she shut down,
pushed him away. New relationships took time. It wasn’t long until the
discussion moved on toward more suggestive teasing.
Her smile was so sexy and sensual.
He smiled as he corked the bottle and stuffed it in the
backpack. “Let’s take a walk on the beach.”
    “Sounds nice.”
He took her hand and led her down to the water’s edge. She
dug her toes into the wet sand. “I’m curious. What’s it like for a couple to
live within the BDSM lifestyle?”
He groaned. “It’s not for everyone. Some people think it is
and go about entering the lifestyle without learning anything first.” He
couldn’t hide the defensive tone in his voice.
    “That’s not what I asked.”
“It’s different for everyone. That’s not an easy question.
Some live it 24/7, others only
