my hands I guess satisfied with me now. I take a moment longer leaning back on my hands watching him get up and grab our bags placing them on each of our beds. “What ?” He asks when I’ve been staring at him too long.
“I love you ,” I say standing hugging him to me.
“ Oh hell no, don’t get soft on me now sis,” he says pushing me away with a huge smile.
Gathering all my data and a pen we head out. We have to look and act on our best behavior in front of the London pack master. He is known for being a perfectionist and also for having a very wicked mean streak. Every pack master has a beta, a second in command, and the London pack master has been though seven in the past thirty years as pack master. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but it’s unheard of. A pack master will have usually no more than two in his lifetime.
As we walk closer to the me eting room I can hear the melody of a piano being played. The music is very upbeat and happy making Marcus and I exchange glances. Miles is by the door already opening it as we near him and I feel weird about this. ‘ What the,’ Marcus thoughts send to me.
Entering the room I watch as the London pack master play this very happy song with a huge grin on his face. All I can think is that this is not the man I was told about or he is on something.
“Oh the Parker twins!” He says standing from his piano bench tossing his arms out. “It’s so wonderful to meet you again after so many years. Come sit, we were about to start,” he says with his heavy British accent.
Immediately Marcus takes a seat leaving me with the only chair available right next to the pack master. Shit . Calmly I sit placing all my paperwork in front of me. “Parker twins this is my beta Shiloh, he will be in charge of this mission.” The pack master says slumming back into his chair.
“I’m sure you two have be en over this mission multiple times, but we just got some intel that fairies are working with the hunters now,” Shiloh says looking right at us.
“Fairies , aren’t they all dead?” Marcus says and I was thinking the same thing.
“Apparently not. It seems the hunters keep some around for extra security to keep anything and everything, but hunters out. From what we understand they only have five living in this compound we think is hunter’s headquarters, they are all males,” he says sliding us each a copy of their findings.
“So how does this change things?” I ask scanning over the pages he has just handed us.
“To be fair we don’t really know yet. Fairies have been out of the picture for over two hundred years and even before that they were really no threat. So we might just stick with our plan, but just send in a team before us.” Shiloh says and Marcus shakes his head.
“ So you’re using your first team as guinea pigs, basically,” Marcus says not showing how angry he truly is with the situation. He despises this tactic and I don’t blame him but I won’t fight it like he does.
“Do you have a problem with how we do things around here Mr. Parker?” Shiloh says frowning at Marcus.
“Yes I do,” Marcus says with just as much attitude. These men are just as bad as women, but women don’t have to whip out the measuring stick to win.
“Then you are more than welcome to join them, but of course your sister will have to join you too,” Shiloh says looking towards me with a faint grin thinking I might fight my brother on this. He doesn’t know me at all.
“I will join Marcus ,” I say waving my hand and Shiloh’s grin vanishes. I’m sure he thought I wouldn’t go, but what he doesn’t understand is that I will always be by my brother’s side. They just assume I don’t like to get my hands dirty.
“ Then it’s settled?” Marcus’s says bringing the attention back to him acting a little cocky.
“No, I don’t think you truly understand how important you and your sister’s expertise is needed. It would be irresponsible on my part as well
