hands through his hair, knowing by his pants and
groans he was on the verge, too.
    He kissed her neck as
he found release, shook for a few seconds, and then went very still, groaning
deep in the back of his throat.
    They both stood
looking at one another, not saying a word for a few minutes until he finally
pulled out of her. “How was that?” he asked.
    “It was fantastic.”
    “Yeah, I think that’s
what we both needed. Now we should be able to go about our business without any
of that tension between us. Nothing like a good fuck to clear
the air.”
    Kate nodded but
didn’t really believe that. Okay, it worked for some people that was true. It might have even worked for him, but in her
opinion, the air was more charged and the great fuck had done nothing to dispel
the sexual electricity that hung between them. In fact, she was ready for
another round of sex with Brock already.
    He yawned and Kate
couldn’t help but yawn, too. Why are
yawns so contagious?
    Brock handed the
ripped panties to her.
    She took them, hoping
this wasn’t really the end of their impromptu sexual encounter.
    “Well, if you don’t
mind, I think I’m going to turn in for the night.”
Crap, it’s over. He’s going to bed.
    “Sure,
no problem. I probably will, too. I’m beat all
of a sudden.” Liar,
liar.
    “Good night, then.”
    “’Night.”
    He was gone, walking up
the stairs before she could say another word, not that she had anything else to
say.
    Kate closed her eyes.
She’d made another stupid mistake.

    Chapter Six

    Brock wanted to smack
himself up the side of the head. What had he been thinking? First of all, he’d
let a woman distract him yet again. Maybe his dad was right; he couldn’t keep
his dick in his pants. But the old man would have to agree with him that Kate
was the exception. No guy, not even his perfect step-brothers could keep it
zipped up and their cocks inside their tighty-whities if they’d set eyes on
her. She was quite something. If you could go to heaven without dying then he’d
been there tonight.
    She really hadn’t
deserved him pushing her body up against the wall and pounding into her. She
was the type of woman whom you carried upstairs, set carefully down on the bed,
and made slow, sweet love to. However, he’d been so desperate to get inside her
it was do it or lose it there and then.
    Although it wasn’t
his first choice of locations and positions, he hadn’t been disappointed. She
was wet, tight, and luscious. Normally, it was always only about the sex when he
fucked a woman but for some strange reason he found himself wanting more than
that from Kate. The reason he’d been so matter-of-fact with her after they’d
done the deed was because he’d suddenly been thrown for a loop. He couldn’t
figure out how to fight the let’s go
upstairs and cuddle for a while sort of feeling that had flooded his mind
and body. So instead he’d been all business, complete with a false yawn, and I’m going to bed, see ya !
    Brock flopped onto
the mattress. Truth was he wanted her in this bed. He wanted to make love to
her in a romantic way and not one of his one-night-stand ways. He didn’t know
her that well, but got the sense that she was kind, sensitive, had been hurt by
her ex, and he should have known better.
    He closed his eyes.
Sleep was the furthest thing from his mind. He heard the door across the way
open and shut. The thought that only a narrow hallway and two closed doors
separated them scared the shit out of him. Lock
your door, Kate.
    Maybe he should go
back to the boat, small amount of water on board or not. Maybe he should quit
his job tomorrow and go back to being neighbors. Yeah, a casual wave when they
saw one another.
    Brock ran his hands
through his hair. Usually he could fuck them and leave them, but that didn’t
seem an option where Kate was concerned. Shit, it wasn’t only his dick that had
gotten him in a mess this time, but maybe his heart,
