door and let the doctor in.
Doc Anderson did a thorough external examine on Gina, pleased with the way her wounds had healed. When he pulled a needle out along with an empty vial, she cringed when he explained, “I want to do a blood panel on you. Make sure you’re healthy to take care of that little one.”
Jared moved over and took the hand that wasn’t attached to the arm that was going to be pierced for the doctor’s experiment. She knew she was squeezing too hard as the needle penetrated her skin when Jared shifted next to her. She had always hated blood tests or shots, but these men had told her they would protect her, so the least she could do was be brave for a little needle prick.
Releasing her death grip on the large masculine hand, she looked up at him. When she saw the grimace on his face, she feared the worst from him, but when she saw his hazel eyes smiling down at her, she was able to relax.
The kind doctor had used five vials to gather her blood. When he was finished, he pulled out the needle and placed it in a container. Placing everything in his bag, he looked around to see if he had missed anything.
Looking down at her, he smiled. “All right, young lady, I will let you know the results of the blood tests. I do expect to see you in a couple weeks to do a gynecological examine. Just call the office and make an appointment with my secretary. Do you have any questions for me?”
Not thinking of any, she shook her head. Picking up his bag, Doc Anderson shook hands with Jared and then moved over to do the same with Connor. Setting his hand on Nathan’s head, he tousled the dirty-blond hair and received a giggle from the youngster. Moving over to the door, he started to leave when Gina spoke out.
    “Doctor?”
    “Yes, dear?”
“Do I have to…” She stopped when she realized three pairs of men’s eyes were watching, waiting for her question. Steeling herself, she looked directly at the man at the door. “Do I have to wait until my exam to ask for birth control pills?”
Breathing out in relief, she saw both of her men smile as they glanced at each other. Doc Anderson, a bit uneasy at the question in front of the sheriff and his deputy, glanced at the two men and swallowed hard. “I would prefer you wait, but if it’s really important, we can get you a prescription.”
Jared stepped forward and patted the man on his shoulder. “No, it’s all right, Doc. It can wait. We want to make sure our little lady is given a clean bill of health. She’ll be calling to make the appointment.”
A slight blush on his face, the doctor couldn’t seem to get away fast enough. “I’ll see myself out.”
With that, he turned quickly and practically fled the room. The door closing in the living room a few moments later indicated he was gone and Gina let out a breath she had been holding and hadn’t realized it. Looking between the two men, she could see the hunger and longing in their eyes causing her stomach to somersault. Their eyes seemed to heat up her body and she felt flushed from head to foot. She was glad she was still under the sheet.
Connor stood and handed the baby to Jared, who tickled the little tyke when he had him in his arms. He turned to her and Gina began to get nervous, swallowing hard at his gaze. When he sat on the bed, he rubbed her stomach through the thin sheet. “I need to go check in at the office and then I’ll go shopping for some needed necessities for you and Nathan. Jared will be here for you but I want you to get some more rest. You need and deserve it.”
Pulling the blanket up over her, he tucked it up under her chin. Laying his hand on her cheek, he bent over and kissed her tenderly on her lips. When her stomach growled, he let up on the kiss and yet his lips remained on hers. She let out a giggle while she felt him smile.
“Okay,” he said sitting back up. “You are going to have lunch and then take a nap. I’ll go in to the office after that. But now, you
