his hand.
    “No Ulfr,” he said.
When he said something else, she didn‟t understand the
words, but she understood his meaning. He was willing to share
her with his brother, only if she were a willing participant.
Valerie settled against him with relief. He had promised to
protect her and he meant it. Besides, if she had to she would toss
Ulfr on his ass and remember to run.
Before long, Hott pulled himself out of the water. He
motioned her to stay put. Then he mimed he was going hunting.
Valerie grimaced, another thing she would have to get used to. No
more pretending t-bones and prime rib magically appeared in the
grocery stores already packed as if they were grown that way.

When Hott walked from the cave she felt some apprehension.
She was alone. But it wasn‟t as if Hott could take some naked chick
hunting in the woods. Wouldn‟t that be a sight? That would give a
whole new meaning to the term “a real nature girl.” She settled
back to wait. Before long she could feel herself getting pruney. Her
fingers were wrinkled, and she climbed out of the pool slowly. She
settled her behind onto the cold stone ground, wishing she had
been at least allowed to take a blanket or jacket with her through
    the mist.
It seemed as though hours passed. She alternately climbed into
the steamy water when cold and climbed out when wrinkled. Her
thoughts wore on her nerves. Where on earth was Hott? She was
starving and worried. What happened if he got hurt or killed, what
    on earth would she do?
To her horror she heard a gruff voice from behind her. Her
eyes widened in fear. A bear of a man was grinning as he moved
stealthily towards her. His hair was to his shoulders and his blond
beard was thick and full. He was gigantic! Valerie wondered if
there was such a thing as a small Viking man. He licked his lips
when his eyes devoured her bare breasts. Valerie swallowed hard
and broke into a cold sweat. She rose unsteadily to her feet and
backed away with her hands splayed.
Remember to run, remember to run … She found most men
considered her to be beautiful and weak because of her voluptuous
breasts but slim waist. They considered her curvy and fragile. She
had been told she had an angelic face with the look of an innocent,
delicate flower—boy were they wrong. This man, no doubt,
would be unprepared for an assault. When he came close enough,
Valerie smiled sweetly. He lunged for her. She grabbed his wrist
and sent him sailing, big ass first, into one of the pools. Then she
    ran.
Out of the cave and pounding into the forest, she ran as fast as
she could. Small sticks and stones cut at her bare feet, but she

didn‟t stop. She could hear the angry howls of the man running
after her. She turned briefly to see how close he was then slammed
into what felt like a brick wall. She was caught up into powerful
arms. Valerie kicked and screamed but was held too tightly. The
man who held her had shoulder-length dark-as-night straight hair
and deep brown eyes. He wasn‟t clean shaven, but had at least two
days growth of beard on his chin. He was as big as Hott. His chest
was bare, and he held a sword in one hand, her in the other.
Callously he flung Valerie to the ground when the other armed
man came closer; she curled herself into a tiny ball.
She remained unmoving but quivering in fear and cold. The
one man whom she had tossed onto his ass into the pool was
approaching angry and dripping wet. The younger dark-haired man
had his sword raised. The two exchanged heated words. To her
surprise she caught the word Hott and then Ulfr. She looked up at
the man standing before her. There was a resemblance to Hott.
    “Ulfr?” she whispered.
The dark-haired man grinned down at her. He then shifted his
concentration to the other man and snapped a few words. Again
Hott was mentioned. Both men argued vehemently.
